Deathguard upgrade kits from FW

Recommended Posts

I fell in love and I’ve been collecting DG since the new stuff came out.

I built quite a bit already. One of the musts for me is that every single model looks different.

I know that it’ll require some amount of converting.

After some googling I saw that FW did these upgrade kits. I got more heads and shoulderpads. But I can’t find the bellies on their shop anymore.

I’m worried that they stopped doing them!

If so anyone knows a good alternative or tips to modelling it myself?

If you are looking for some alternate bellies, the AoS Putrid Blightkings come with several options and might provide some interesting bits. Have a look at their pictures and sprues on GW's website. Also google for their building instructions, it can be handy to check them together with the DG instructions to see potential fits.

And I think greenstuff will be a huge friend here.

The old forgeworld bloated death guard upgrade set (torso and head combined) have been retired I'm afraid. Plus the ancient plastic chaos space marines kit it was an upgrade for has also gone as well. That said, they were drastically smaller than the new DG kits, so they wouldn't have blended in well anyway e.g.

For some conversion bits, in addition to the Blightkings already suggested, there's kromlech's morbid legionaries (I particularly like the heads and shoulder pads) and spellcrow's plague legions parts. Most of the parts fit in nicely, but the legs are a bit short as they're scaled to the old GW chaos marines - you'll want to add some greenstuff padding at the waist and possibly neck to get the height up.Or just base them around new plastic kit legs. And if there's one range you can customise easily with greenstuff and surface damage with a large drill bit, it's death guard! Greenstuff world's tentacle maker (that also makes nice ribbed tubing and even maggots) is also worth a look.
