Now that the Razorback was so much fun to paint, I finally found the time to paint the Rhino-Proxy I built 3 years ago. I copied the kitbash and ralley stripe from a Raven Guard, so thanks to whoever was that.

Thanks! Really appreciate it. The Kit is from the australian manufacturer Miniature Scenery, it's their Tactical Response Vehicle. It took a while, till it arrived in Germany, but I'm glad I have ordered a second one, hehe.

Yeah like how agile it looks, like fast response, does remind me of the Batman "Tumbler", always thought that would make a great model for 40k.

Yeah … while planing for my first Army, I was undecided between White Scars, Raven Guard, Blood Angels and Space Wolves … and for the first three mentioned chapters, esp. the White Scars, the Rhino just didn't look fast enough, so I took a look around. I think I remember the designer of the Tactical Response Vehicle talking on Dakka-Dakka about the thing looking like a tumbelr (and yet imperial). Adding a Stormbolter and and extra hatch (I hope that's the right word) from the original Rhino set, added a lot to the Kitbash, I think. Ah and … superglue makes wood and plastic stick together superwell.

My first Pack of Grey Hunters is done. I added the red rights legs, because the designated Wolf Guard Pack-Leader (Forge Worlds Legion Vigilator)rig right shoulder pad is only barely visible and thus I painted his leg also red, to make clear that he's meant to run with Grey Hunters …

They were lot of fun of to build and paint. 5 also is a great size for batch-building and painting. I'm really glad that I still have so many unbuilt Firstborn and bits to kitbash them.

Also: This is the first Time I used AK Ultra Matte Varnish, which really helps with those decals. I had to use Decal Softener to get the black wolf heads in the right should pads flat enough. But after using that, Lahmian Medium always ended up glossy. An final layer of Ultra Matte Varnish solved that problem. Glad I found that.

Is the Lahmian Medium from when GW re-did their washes last year I think and I was told that things like Nuln Oil and that work more like Contrast paints?  I use Lahmian all the time over my decals and I find if I apply more than 2 coats it can end up going smokey, like Matt ++ not glossy, but I had a lot of bottles so worried that the formula has changed.

And finally, after lying in a box for 7 years, I did Lukas …

It was a super fun mini to do, and I'm glad he'll be back for made to order next weekend, so I can grab another one, to primarize him … :D

I really like them, and it was much more fun to paint them, than I thought.

But: I only have 15 Blood Claws and 6 Grey Hunters to put into them. I have enough firstborn to build several squads of Blood Claws, Grey Hunters or Long Fangs. Any suggestions, what's a decent combination or to build first?

Maybe I'll find some time in the next days, of make a photograph of my whole Great Company. I'm quite happy with my progress this year. If I had a few more Firstborn to put in my Rhinos(Proxy)s and my Razorback, I'd actually be in the situation to have a realy match, hehe.

All the Stoneborn (and the newly built Terrain of this year).

P.S.: To focus only on one army, one project this year, was the second-best decision I made, since I came back to the hobby, nine years ago. (The best decision was, of course, collecting Space Wolves.) I am really, really happy with the results of 2023. It's been great year with the wolves. Thanks for the support here, everyone!
