Inspiration!

Recommended Posts

Hello all.

Models request please!

I need to get inspired, and at times it just feels like I don't know how to make the time to hobby as much as I'd like these days.

So, what inspires you? Post links to pictures, lore, fluff, art, models, miniatures, dioramas...

Just provide credit where credit is due; such as, if you know a source, name it! If you don't, let's see if we can all find it!

There's so much to love about our force, why not try to remember and rekindle that flame a little bit!

I love the Wolves as Vikings: why not do something nice, maybe consider an effort to donate an army to some worthy cause, like an "In Memoriam" to Brand Sableclaw I think it was, if interested? We can all delay as the issue would be the current E Tenebrae Lux 2019 effort.

Thoughts, models, and links, please!

What has made me inspired the most in a long time was a Death watch/Dark heresy campaign I played recently. About an Inquisitorial team researching an anomaly in an area of the Empire where the Space wolves had not been in for 10k years, but where Space wolves artifacts had been found, and those artifacts where really old.  The artifacts where not fancy, but shell casings and other tid-bits that could be traced back to the SW chapter.

At the end of the campaign the surviving Inquisitorial acolyte interacted with what has now become my lost company of wolves. Old grumpy veterans, with no real connection with Fenris anymore, but very happy with getting signs where Russ may have gone. During the interaction between the SW and the Inquisition, gene-seed from lost SW troopers were handed over and sent to Fenris for evaluation. With the first contact between the company and Fenris in centuries, sagas has been told, artifacts been stored in the vaults of the fangs, and the company gotten new reinforcements sent to them.

What also have inspired me is playing a campaign with rp elements, my first battle, in my last campaign, I joined up with some AD-mechs against traitor guard led by a Nurgle sorcerer. Several battles later in that campaign the Ad-mech has turned sides, and are now full blown Nurgle worshipers, while I have joined up with two different IG regiments and Free house Knights. The pre-battle discussions can be interesting when everyone is having their own agendas and personalities has made me more inclined to working harder on my own company.

The rp elements are what inspires me the most now days, even though I do play the odd pop up games where I can be super competitive with list building and such at times.

This has always been the biggest inspiration for me

If only I could find someone to make a 3d model of those helmets.

GW do some Dwarf heads that have helmets pretty close to that, I've been trying to work them into a conversion for ages, but the beards are a bit of a pain with Primaris armour.  They also need a bit of work on the left side of the helmet as they are designed to fit into a shoulder section that has part of the helmet moulded onto it, but I think it's worth the effort.
