Allfathers Einherjer paint scheme idea

So I am attempting to get back into the swing of things and paint up my army. I wanted to go a norse heavy style which meant heavy greys (to represent chainmail and other metals) with bronze and red flair. Lenses, weapons, symbols would all be red. Bronze used on filigree on the armor. It's a pretty simple color scheme however I wanted to see what people think of my color choices before I commited to spending a wad of money.

The army is supposed to be much cleaner than my SW brothers, as Norse were supposedly pretty good about maintaing their equipment and hygiene. So I will be using a simple "oil black" wash in order to make it appear the armor is well lubricated but not overly done. Additionally they are a primaris chapter, so that is the type of models I will be painting. I didn't put it in there but the joints will be using the bolter metal color.

The only other issue I have so far is brown leather, my last attempt at leather went less than poorly and ended up wasting a model. So I would love some recommendations.

I welcome all critiques and advice. I know people will ask why so much vallejo, it is simple logistics of getting it is much simpler.

So, the scheme looks good to me, but I can't really visualize it too much without it being on even a test miniature

For Leather.... My standby is Dryad Bark > Nuln Oil > Gorthor Brown > Baneblade Brown (if you want a super highlight), or replacing Dryad Bark and Gorthor Brown with Rhinox Hide and Doombull Brown for a warmer/redder leather.

RE: the hygiene. It's even better than that. Norse (and even the ones going aviking) were considered STRANGE because they bathed more than once a week.

Paint scheme looks similiar to mine in composition, so I assume it will look pretty great!

As Fajita Fan suggested, I have changed to Contrast Paints for Leather Parts: Wraithbone + Cygor Brown

It's just not worth it to loose so much time on all the little belts and pouches in my eyes, so Contrast was a blessing in that regard.

For leather I'd go brighter and shade darker otherwise you can't really see straps or belts.  You might also give the contrast paints a whirl over metal basecoats if your brushwork is good because it gives a neat metallic look.

I thought using basilicanum grey over a silverish metallic, however I fear this would look too close to Iron Hands or Iron Warriors. Additionally it might look awkward with my stark black priests that use normal colors.

I really thought about grey seer+snakebite leather, as it is a more primitive leather look. However, as I replied to Fajita Fan, it might look awkward with just 1 part using contrasts. however if this isn't a problem I may try it out, just will take a couple weeks to get the paint.

Contrast and non-Contrast don't look too weird next to each other. Look at my four Apothecaries I did for my Dark Angels:

The white on all of them is Apothecary White over Corax White. Everything else is painted normally.

This is Basiculm Gray over Rustoleum aluminum primer (which I LOVE now) and it stays on the flats a little easier than nuln oil.  It looks very similar to nuln oil with some medium in it but you'll find it goes on a little flatter if you use a flat or filberd brush.

That can be further recess shaded by nuln oil and highlighted with Runefang if you like.  The other contrast paints look cool as hell on metallics!

This is Blood Angels red over Retributor gold - it looks great in person but doesn't photograph well on an iPhone then reduced in size to fit on B&C's gallery.

As far as the colour palette goes, I think it will work well, but you're going to need another "accent" colour to make it pop, this could easily just be on gems and lenses etc, but either a light blue or a bright green will give something that draws the eye from what is otherwise likely to be a lot of autumn shades.

I thought about blue lenses instead of blue, but it might be too "depressing". Unfortunately there isn't much on primaris to really paint on them, like gems.

Three tone eye lenses, good luck with that one. I go just red and orange with a white dot in a comer as the shine it looks pretty good. If you can manage it I am sure it will look amazing like the other 3 tone eye lenses I have seen around. I think what you have is good, adding further edge extreme highlights might make them look a bit more GW style paint job. More than one edge highlight is a bit much, but thats just my personal preference though.
