Charlo's Enclaves [Escalation League R1]

So I got some Tau for pretty cheap and decided to live the hero hammer life!

I've (almost) finished painting 5 Breachers and have built 5/8 of the Farsight Posse. I've used a mix of the book artwork and dynamic poses when it wasn't that good!

Frantically building and painting these guys...

Sha'Vastos

Went a bit light on my application of the red in places, but decent for the first one.

Looking red as hell! All of the 8's drones are done bar two gunnies I forgot about...

Commander "Farsight" O'Shova. Warleader of the Farsight Enclaves. Master of The Eight. Wielder of the Dawn Blade. Scourge to the Greenskinned Menace. Hero of the Damocles Crusade. Outcast to an empire.

Thought his default pose was a bit crap and noticed I had a pointing hand from the commander kit so a conversion in order. Replaced his weedy resin plasma with a chunky Riptide one too. Still messing with the pose.

Yes, I did swap the sword to the opposite arm and the GW resin/ casting suuuuuuuucks.

Decided to move the escalation league discussion here as opposed to the 500pt list building thread: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358283-500pts-farsight-enclaves-how/?do=findComment&comment=5386593

I played two practice games with the 500pt list today. For reference it is:

Hidden Content

Commander

- XV8 Irridium Armour

- Fusion Blades

- Burst Cannon

- Shield Generator

- Enclaves WLT

- 2x Shield Drone

Cadre Fireblade

- 2x Shield Drone

5 Strike Team

- Carbines

- Markerlight

5 Strike Team

- Carbines

- Markerlight

5x Breachers

4x Stealth Team

Tactical Drones

- 4x Gun Drone

- Shield Drone

Filthy Be'gal Pirates (Freeboota Orks) were my opponent.

He had;

Warboss with Klaw and Combi-scorcha

21 Boyz with Klaw Nob

30ish Grotz

Runtherd

Lootaz with Kustom Blasta Mek

So quite a tide in 500pts...

However, in both games I eventually tabled him on turn 3. Essentially I usually had the Stealth Suits playing a distraction/ sacrifice while the infantry got into range, the drones adding to the massed S5 shots.

Fusion Blades commander with 6" heroic intervention turned out to be a total monster. Really damn powerful and sneaky. Keeping him just behind my lines meant he could react to charges without fear of retaliation and then fall back and still let off shots each turn.

8CP felt like a LOT and I didn't use any stratagems other than re-rolls, however it was nice to have them available for things like 1s on advances/ fireblade Markerlight and the fusion weapons.

I think I'll keep the list as is for now as it seemed to function well enough. I'm intrigued to see how it fares against something a touch more elite that has a quantifiable armour save!

1st Round of the League COMPLETE. The result was 3 crushing Victories for the Enclaves!

I played against BA with the following list, mine was the same:

  • Leiutenant - Thunder Hammer (4D from WLT), Angel's Wing (no overwatch jump pack), had a 2+ save from campaign advancement rolls
  • Lemartes
  • 2x5 Bolter Scouts
  • 1x5 CCW Pistol Scouts
  • 6 Death Company - 4 Power Swords

Ultimately, while he did end up in a fair amount of combat, the Tau shooting managed to just be insurmountable. I *was* lucky with some objective rolls, however I still ended up tabling my opponent in all 3 games pretty much.

I'm definately getting the hang of Tau now and the ynergy between the units. I usually bait with the breachers/ stealth suits and then everything else stays in one or two groups and kills things/ claims objectives.

Repulsor Field is an AWESOME stratagem too.
