MegaVolt87
Even armed with the magical Spear of the Emperor, Russ (or any loyalist Primarch) should not have the power to incapacitate post-Molech Horus...and then inexplicably falter. And why would Valdor or Malcador give such a powerful weapon to Russ, who is bent on rushing off into enemy territory and may not even have the chance to use it against Horus (or even lose it), when the weapon could be reserved As a plot point, it logically fails on multiple levels. Not necessarily, giving Russ the spear to kill Horus makes sense as that means there is a chance Russ could succeed without the Emperor having to kill Horus himself. Even up to the final duel, the Emperor struggled with the idea of him personally killing Horus. While not specifically mentioned/ outright stated, I think Malcador understood this as well, hence the Nemesis plot with the assassin strike force. Russ and Sangy were the best candidates for such a mission IMO. Hopefully Sangy inflicts a heavy wound on Horus, making his sacrifice more worthwhile than a cracked armor plate in the upcoming books.
