Sherrypie
Does anyone else plan their background fiction while assembling or painting? Am I just a sad nerd? Ain't that half the fun, here? Never feel sad for liking what you like, unless it gets into unhealthy levels. Fajita Fan
While painting my knights I started mentally writing a story about a young knight learning to duel in an Acastus with a wood lance. RipOffProductions
Does anyone else plan their background fiction while assembling or painting? Am I just a sad nerd? of course, that's actually a massive road block for me building my Legio due to how I want to plan out each Titan as it's own character within the greater whole of the Legio Arcana prior to building them. I want each Titan to be representative of one of the Major Arcana of the Tarot(or at least all the Battle Titans will be, Scout Titans can be more generic or dedicated to service of one of the Arcana, with the exception of "The Fool" being a Warhound), each with their own unique heraldry. but of course the rumors about there possibly being new classes of Titans leaves me hesitant to fill out more of the roster: Of course the Emperor and Empress need to be Imperators, but that kit is likely years away, and while it would be fun to scratch build one, I don't want to without a point of reference for how big to build and proportion it. Part of me even wants The Hermit and The World to be an Imperators as well, but that seems a bit excessive for the Legio to have, even considering my plans to have the Legio split by the Heresy and Chaos, which still leaves me with the question of what to make them(leaning towards Warlords for both, but that combines with all the other Warlords I have, and plan to get, seem disproportionate as well... maybe the Warbringer Nemesis would fit for The Hermit?) Should The Devil be a Reaver(equipped with the Vortex Missile), or should I wait and see if there is a similar weapon available to the Warbringer Nemesis once it gets an AT version? Will the "Siege Titan" we've heard rumors about be it's own kit, or will be just be a weapon load out for the existing Warlord(and if so, will it be a conversion kit that effects more then just the 4 built in magnetic hardpoints), this effects whether I want to build Strength now or later. I would love The Tower to be bigger then a Warlord, and there are rumors that there will be a Titan in that size range, but we don't know what kind of battle field role it might play, and might therefore be ill-fitting to represent The Tower. I want The Hanged Man, Judgement, and Justice to function as a Maniple's minimum elements, but am not sure which Maniple, let alone which Titans within the Maniple they should be, if anything these three need to wait for the new Titan classes and the new Maniples that come with them. and then there is Wheel of Fortune... part of me wants to build it as a massive tank-like thing that uses Reaver rules(mostly for that 360 arc for the "carapace" weapon), another wants to wait and see if Ordinatus weapons ever get rules/models and use those... and over all this one is just a headache... the only Titan based on a future/unknown release that I'm confident of is The Magician will be a Psi-Titan, and that's just the model, depending on the rules for Psi-Titans I might end up proxying it as a regular Warlord in-game. and then there's the issue of me wanting to have the Legio evenly split 5 ways between service to the 4 Chaos Gods and Imperial Loyalist elements, exactly how many have that fact represented by a second model depends on how GW handles Chaos/Daemon Titans, as I desire at least one of each, which is another motive behind the Legio Arcana's theme, the 21 "Major Arcana" gives me plenty of room to buy one of every Battle Titan GW releases without running out of room for any additional Titans of the same class if Maniples require them. Fajita Fan
This is what we split up from our general chat thread? Making all these threads like this makes me look like a loon. Marshal Wolfhart
Nah, it's the fact that you post in every active thread on here all day every day that makes you look like a loon :P I like to think of the names and deeds of my models as i build and paint them (though more in the building stage usually, as that's where i add some extra bits, poses or basing). I didn't do it in AT as i wanted my first titans to be generic to keep options open until i know what i'm doing and where i'm taking my collection. Noserenda
Pretty much, sometimes ideas sprout from poses or armament or from little mistakes when building it. Marshal Wolfhart
Pretty much, sometimes ideas sprout from poses or armament or from little mistakes when building it. Every bit of battle damage i ever did on a model began with a slip with a knife... :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357490-concurrent-model-assemblypainting-and-lore-development/#findComment-5367814 Share on other sites
