lionofjudah
Wow Gilt!!! I'm glad you called as that's a crazy distance to go...and even crazier that a GW store says no to FW! I don't understand that at all. My last 3 AoP board have been a majority FW. Congratulations to those who entered the Armies on Parade. All the pics in this thread look fantastic, so much effort and inspiring, so well done! Unfortunately, I did not get to enter the AOP, the store manager did not allow it. Due to where I live and the nearest store being over 500km away, I rang the store to check on some things before going there, as driving that far and booking a hotel etc I wanted to make sure I got things right, like entry times etc. When we phone talked about my entry the store manager told me sorry, he had a no FW policy. That meant no FW kits at all, to play with or even for entry into painting events, like the AOP. As I had designed my entry around the large FW Porphyrion knight, he gave me a choice, replace that knight with something else or not enter. Well it was a bit hard to suddenly come up with a replacement. Anyway, at least I found out before I drove there! That would have sucked even more!!! Btw I have since checked with GW, apparently stores (individual store managers) have the right to allow FW kits in their store or not allow them. I think I’ve heard something like that before, just didn’t realise it included painting events as well. Now I know. duz_
Glad you called ahead to Gilt Unfortunately that was the stores policy also annoying its not consistent store to store Maybe next year you could find one which is more accommodating Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357511-armies-on-parade-imperial-guard/page/2/#findComment-5415001 Share on other sites
GuardDaddy
Well at least you called! I/m surprised by managers reaction. Footfall is crucial to business and also the GW business model (I say this after 2 years working for GW part time whilst at college). Getting potential hobbyists in through the door is absolute bedrock of store. Business works fine online - its the human level the stores drive. In this case who knows how many hobbyists have not picked up the hobby as they missed your great board. I can understand 3rd party models (I didnt include my 3rd party models) but forge world I dont understand. Regardless - board looked great - well done Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357511-armies-on-parade-imperial-guard/page/2/#findComment-5415148 Share on other sites
