ImperialSquishiness
Planning on making an all Scion Drop force list. Does anyone run one? If so, how does it do? My guess is it either murders everything t1 or gets destroyed Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357540-all-scion-list/ Share on other sites
WarriorFish
You don't get too many Stormie lists these days as their play style is a bit against the 8th grain unfortunately. You can't deploy everything from reserve, and can't deploy reserves on turn 1 either which makes life difficult. Add in that the hotshots can't rapid fire when they land and sadly the odds start to go more towards the latter of the two extremes We do have some Stormie commanders in the barracks so hopefully they have practical experience of going drop heavy in 8th, but such lists are not going to be easy! I think Stormies would fare better using the drop elements more akin to a standard Guard list, as trouble consultants and mischief makers. Your main force would then be Taurox mounted or on foot. If you wanted to take a pure drop Stormie list it'd probably be best off as an allied force to a Guard army (or maybe another codex). At the least it'd be a good start to the force as you build it up and let you get them on the table sooner, and start getting some table top experience with the concept. librisrouge
The best "pure" stormies list this edition includes a bunch of valkyries, a melee unit or two, and runs the whole shebang as a drop troops specialist detachment. It improves your umph and mobility. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357540-all-scion-list/#findComment-5358812 Share on other sites
ScionOfCorlesia
I wont offer a list as I'm probably behind on my FAQ's, but I'll offer a few pointers. - Don't underestimate a Valkyries damage output. Heavy Bolters, Multi laser and Rocket Pods can do some serious damage to the right units. And if you're in hover, you're getting some decent odds on hitting given the amount of shots your making. - Crusaders/Bullgryns are great to make up for the lack of melee you have. Swap between them depending on your enemy, but I personally favour Bullgryns because of their hitting power. - You don't just need to spam plasma to win. Volley guns are invaluable against hordes and in a unit holding an objective. Melta is abit more limited given the recent changes with deloyment from valks, but if you get them in a good position you're opponent is gonna' be taking some heavy losses. - Remember the Taurox Prime gets the Stormtrooper doctrine. jpwyrm
I follow someone on Facebook that regularly field an almos pure Scions list. The gist of it is two battalion, one Drop Force Scions with 3 full squads of Scions with plasmas, 3 command squads with HSVG and 4 Valkyries to ferry them around. The second battalion is Astra Militarum with 2 tank commanders, Yarrick, an astropath and 3 Infantry Squads. If that army gets to alpha strike something, something is going to be very dead!
