Captain Antargo
I am thinking of getting a Paladin squad but I am not sure if I should give them an Ancient and the other guy (not sure who it is, Apothecary?) Please help and supply any opinions or suggestions! Pretty sure that is an Apothecary Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357575-paladin-ancient-or-no-paladin-ancient/ Share on other sites
Panzer
The one on the right behind the Ancient is an Apothecary, yes. Also it's regularly the MVP in a friends army. He usually takes 2 or 3 with hammers in his list and they wreck face. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357575-paladin-ancient-or-no-paladin-ancient/#findComment-5360599 Share on other sites
Captain Antargo
If i do 5 Paladins (no apothecary or ancient) would that be a terminator squad? Panzer
It's a Terminator squad if you want it to be a Terminator squad (and if it follows the rules on the Datasheet, eg not less than 5 models etc). Paladins and Terminators are literally the same models except for the icons on the back (which many GK players don't add for their Paladins anyway).Ancients and Apothecaries are separate units designated by their additional bitz (banner and narthecium respectively) and don't belong to the Paladin squad itself. Captain Antargo
I thought so, but it would have probably been confusing because as you said they are very similar Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357575-paladin-ancient-or-no-paladin-ancient/#findComment-5360639 Share on other sites
Corvus Fortis
Assembly instructions shows, how paladins are different from terminators. But WYSIWYG they are equal to each other. Just make them different in any manner you want. EDIT: You want both apothecary and ancient. Apothecary with hammer rocks, but if you short on points/bits, then halberd is kind of OK too. Captain Antargo
Hammer sounds fine, it is -1 to the hit roll but he has a 2+ BS doesn't he so 3+ which is the same as the rest of the unit, so yeah, it works! WS for melee attacks but 2+ is right. However he isn't part of any unit. Apothecaries and Ancients are single-model units with the character keyword. Captain Antargo
Yeah sorry WS, and by "rest of the unit" I meant as in the box set, sorry for my ignorance!
