A Sign of Things to Come?

The new marine rules apparently have the demolisher cannon as a Heavy d6 weapon, with no extra rules. Basically, it behaves as if it always is shooting at 5+ models. That is kinda awesome. Anybody else now fervently hoping our humble demolisher gets the same treatment?

I know I am.

It would certainly make sense, and it would mean my Malcador Defender would actually be vaguely effective on a more regular basis.

However the only non-FW unit with a demolisher cannon is the Leman Russ and I wonder if the grinding advance ability of firing the turret twice in certain situations might make them overlook us from a balance perspective? An odd thought I know considering the craziness in the new marine codex, but it would not surprise me.

^ Baneblade comes with a Demolisher cannon in the hull.

Was just about to say this!

Now to see if those rules ever officially reach my Star Phantom's Fellblade, or if I have to just do it myself based on how FW index stuff is never updated, along with having to say it's its pre CA2017 cost, can never take the damn thing now, and it was already a "only for fluff/fun" investment at its OG points region where it was around 700, not the absurd 900+ it is now.

It would be nice as my Demolisher was mediocre at best in my last tournament even as a tank Commander (2)D3 shots at high T targets barely scratched any wounds off

Let me know how it works out once they hopefully-eventually get updated!  I'd be interested in doing up one or more of the FW demo canons for my krieg lads! (it's basically just a kettle that you put on a barrel for the FW mars tanks, so pretty easy to paint/do up!)

I've found that for the most part, battle cannon is still king for me.  I've yet to roll less than 5 shots (Always grinding advance. I know, it can happen of course) in both my Krieg games so far.  Consistently demolishes what I want it too. If it doesn't, it tends to severely cripple at the least!  All from a safer "many" inches away from melta-equivalents.

My buddy from VT who does Catachans tends to consistently have poor luck with his Demolishers.  Sometimes they absolutely rip and tear! But the vast majority, they tend to be subpar, and he always runs all three lemans in his list as tank commanders in a supreme command.

Think the more important change for Guard is that Marines now lose some juicy rules if they go for any non-codex allies. Say, I don't know... 30 Guardsmen and 2 cheap characters?

If that's a sign of things to come I'll be delighted, just needs to be included in other codices going forward.
