Guiltysparc
I feel like my reading comprehension is usually pretty good, but I'm having a hard time with this... How many relics/special issue wargear items can I use in my UM army? I understand that it's one relic from either the UM supp or the new SM book (without using the more-relics strat). But, can I also give someone a special issue wargear item along with a relic in the army? Or do they functionally act the same. Ex. I have a Chaplain and Librarian in my army. Can I give the chaplain the relic crozius and the Librarian the seal of oath without spending the strat for extra relics? Kallas
Codex: Space Marine Relics, Ultramarines Relics, and Special Issue Wargear Relics - they're all Relics and use up the same currency/slots/however you think of them. You get one free Relic based on your Warlord - an Ultramarines Warlord gives you one free (C:SM)/(UM)/(SIW); an Ultramarines Successor Warlord gives you one free (C:SM)/(SIW), and that can be a (UM) for 1CP as per the Honoured by Macragge Stratagem. You can buy additional Relics for 1CP (as per the Relics of the Chapter Stratagem in Codex: Space Marines; and apparently with no limit currently). These follow the same rules as the free on gained by the Warlord's presence. Basically, all three sections are "Relics." In your example, no, you would be able to have either the Chaplain or the Librarian gain a Relic for 'free' assuming your Warlord is Astartes. To give the second character a Relic you would need to use the Relics of the Chapter Stratagem, as with any other army. Guiltysparc
Gotcha, thanks. I was thinking the SIW used up the relic currency, but wasn't sure why they were just listed as more relics? Successor chapters maybe? Either way, thanks for the clarification! Toxichobbit
Gotcha, thanks. I was thinking the SIW used up the relic currency, but wasn't sure why they were just listed as more relics? Successor chapters maybe? Either way, thanks for the clarification! Yeah, it's successor Chapters. UM armies have full access to relics from Codex SM, UM Supplement and Special Issue Wargear. UM Successor Chapters have full access to relics from Codex SM and Special Issue Wargear, but they do not have full access to the relics from the UM Supplement. They can use a Stratagem to gain access to the relics from the UM Supplement though. Brother Captain Ed
Minor hijack, but it seems relevant to the topic... If I spend a CP for Honoured Sergeant does that mean I can use my "free" relic on a sergeant or does that add an additional relic beyond the first to the army that must be given to a sergeant and drawn from the Special Issue list? I can't tell what the intent is. Emicus
Honored Sargeant gives you 1 relic from the short list, yeah? CCE1981
It adds another Relic that you can take Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357863-question-about-relics-and-special-issue-gear-in-um-supp/#findComment-5372972 Share on other sites
Captain Idaho
Honored Sargeant gives you 1 relic from the short list, yeah? Yes, an extra Relic to a Sergeant who has a short selection of (in my opinion) rather nice selections of wargear. The Mastercrafted option is popular online and in thinking of this option on Hurricane Bolters. Digital Weapons is actually really good! A free Mortal Wound in close combat (almost) which adds to the killing output of Vanguard Veteran Sergeants or Intercessors when you have already taken Mastercrafted in the army. Terminators of all stripes can use this to reasonable effect but if you've got these in assault you might have planned for Mastercrafted. CCE1981
The Master-Crafted option would also be good on an Aggressor Sergeant Auto-boltstorm Gauntlet. Unless FAQd both yhe shooting and melee profiles eoil benefit. Guiltysparc
Ya, I'm liking the MC item on my agressor Sargent's flamestorm guantlets. It's really not bad on anything, it's a great use of 1cp Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/357863-question-about-relics-and-special-issue-gear-in-um-supp/#findComment-5373117 Share on other sites
