nusphigor
Hellio brothers I have been looking at the wip section of the forge and got inspired by St. Lazarus beautiful rendition of an imperial saint on the power fist of a Black Templar Intercessor and I kinda want to adopt iconography similar to that in my fists. However such images of saints fit very well on Black Templars, but in Imperial Fists? What would you guys suggest in the way of iconography and images for our chapter? Something other than fists symbols, codex markings and checkers, of course.Something more complicated. Cheers! Slips
An easy one would be Scrimishaw or Bone-work since thats a big part of the Imperial Fists culture. the other obvious one would be scenes of stoicism on fortress walls/redoubts. Thank you brother! a scene of stoicism sounds neat for one of my dreads. Cheers! Brother Tyler
A few other graphic elements might be seen in official images. Lysander miniature: Index Astartes article: http://a53.idata.over-blog.com/4/08/11/33/Les-Legions/Imperial-Fists.jpg Forge World Horus Heresy depictions: A few elements that you see across these renditions are: lightning bolts shields (both those that are used in combat and decorative) tower/rampart/embattled design (see the decoration at the bottom of the captain's boots and the honour on the terminator's right boot in the Index Astartes article image and the decoration in the center of the chestpiece on left-most Imperial Fist in the Horus Heresy image) You can also see a few elements in the Horus Heresy that are a bit dated, but which might appear in "modern" Imperial Fists (perhaps wearing very old suits of power armour, or bearing very rare honours):double axe design (now a key image of the Executioners Chapter, an Imperial Fists Legion Successor) Maltese cross (now a key image of the Black Templars Chapter, an Imperial Fists Legion Successor the raptor imperialis (hawk's head with lightning bolts, least likely to be found in "modern" times) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358009-imperial-fists-iconography-and-images/#findComment-5377977 Share on other sites
nusphigor
Thanks Brother Tyler! But I mean for example Dark and Blood Angels have the angelic theme and the ultras have the tyrannic wars, but what to paint on the fists? I'll put some links to the images below to explain what i mean. Cheers! Ultramarines Dark Angels Blood Angels Well for the Fists you could depict the battle of phill, siege of terra, the war of the beast, the crusade of thunder just to name a few. We can use fortress and wall motifs, or other inviolate objects like mountains and such Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358009-imperial-fists-iconography-and-images/#findComment-5378726 Share on other sites
Son of Sacrifice
I like the fortress, templar and double axe symbols from the Heresy. We should still have a place for them I think. I find the building characteristic overused a bit. Like they sit around and obsessively fiddle with lego when there's nothing to kill. In fact i'm still thinking how to paint their helmets, because i didn't like the combination of white helmets and yellow armour of the first company. I will give a try painting something from the crusade of thunder or maybe my rendition of this art work: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358009-imperial-fists-iconography-and-images/#findComment-5380423 Share on other sites
Rizara
you could always go with black helmets for the first company. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358009-imperial-fists-iconography-and-images/#findComment-5380432 Share on other sites
Lemondish
you could always go with black helmets for the first company. I remember reading something somewhere about black helmets being called Sternhelms as a veteran label. I haven't seen it mentioned in ages, though Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358009-imperial-fists-iconography-and-images/#findComment-5380461 Share on other sites

Lemondish
Isn't it?! I wish it was mentioned more in the Codex. Perhaps we'll see some additional information in the Supplement? I'm so eager for that book grrr why can't it be soon?!
