GenerationTerrorist
Hi guys. I really love the new Shrike model, therefore RG have piqued my interest. As I have a boat load of unpainted Primaris Marines waiting to be un-greyed, I am weighing up my options as to how to make an all-Primaris force that is, if not competitive, very fluffy. I had planned to go Space Wolves with them, but went for a Wulfen/Dreadnought list instead. So at the moment, I have the Shadowspear units plus another 10 Infiltrators, 2 sets of Dark Imperium units, 5 Reivers, a HeavyGatling/Gatling Redemptor and a Plasma/Flamer Redemptor. Onto my questions, as I can't seem to find too much lore about Primaris RG as of current storyline.... 1) Which Company would have the most Primaris Marines? 2) Which Company has a Primaris Captain? 3) Is the above, plus 2 of the new Walkers and Shrike when released, a decent starting point for Raven Guard? Race Bannon
Welcome to the Ravenspire! Primaris is very new, and as of this post, RG fluff with them is veeeery sparce. Having said that, I perceive: 1) likely all companies have received Primaris support units. Maybe not the 10th because ... Scouts. 2) This is not canonized, yet. So you are not wrong to pick a company and make it yours ^_^ 3) Yes? thewarriorhunter
I don't have better answers than Race but I would think Q1 and Q2 will be answered to some degree in the supplement when it drops. Ishagu
I expect the RG supplament to drop late September or October. Might be worth waiting until then... Dracos
Painting the basics could start right away. Holding off on Veterans because ... yeah uh historically conflicting patterns. Just pick a color for the rim of the shoulder pad as the Supplement is released. Jacques Corbin
Honestly. Maybe third company is the new Primaris company. I mean, who took over for Shrike as Captain? It is not like the other companies cannot use reinforcement for the firstborn they lost. So maybe the first born got reassigned, with the exception of a few select company veterans to show the new guys the ropes. Claws and Effect
Hi guys. I really love the new Shrike model, therefore RG have piqued my interest. They still spend time as Scouts, but then progress to Reiver, Eliminator, and Infiltrator/Incursor before moving up to the next tier. As far as the rest of the units go, I figured they more or less followed the same pattern of integration as the Ultras, with maybe a little more emphasis on units that suit the Raven Guard method of warfare. 2) None have been confirmed to have a Primaris Captain, but given that crossing the Rubicon is a thing it is entirely reasonable to assume that one or more Captains made the transition. 3) Yes. I'd look into adding some aircraft at some point, but what you have is a good start. salixstar
personally I have went for the Rift Stalkers all Primaris Raven Guard successor chapter and am keeping my RG pure old school marines or I was until new Shrike. not sure how my RG are going to progress now. I play them Together using the same chapter tactic and on the table it looks good half the army being black with a little white and the other half being white with a little black. the reason i have done this is because i want all my stuff to be as accurate as possible and Primaris is still so new the fluff isn't settled upon. take the first 8th edition codex. primaris units where all shown as being 5 man things. (or 3) now in the new codex it talks about 10 man intercessor squads being the norm..... so yeah trying to get primaris being fluff accurate is still a bit ....shrug at the moment Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358079-primaris-rg-fluff/#findComment-5378819 Share on other sites
