Returning player looking for an army list help

It’s been 3 editions since I’ve played regularly and I am looking for some help building a 500 points list for me to build towards over the next few weeks so I can’t start learning. I am looking at only using primaris marines.

 

Can any one be of advice.

Then the first question we need to ask first is do you want to play White Scars? If that's a yes, an HQ and 2x Troop Choices is always a good way to start building and I would suggest:

 

* Primaris Kor'sarro Khan

* 2x Squads of Intercessors

Yes o plan to play white scars, had about 7k points of wolves back in the day but want to go for something different thanks for the advice

Well Primaris are different from Older Marines. They got...a statline marines should have, but have less options as far as special and heavy weapons (none really).

 

In my limited playing with them, they feel a little like Tau (but they can actually fight better).

 

What I mean is, you have more limited unit options with upgrades than tactical squads (which most people go Combi weapon, special weapon and call it done, because 5 guys are practically immune to moral, it's primarily a shooting game, you got better units for combat like vanguard vets, company vets etc, tacs are there to take up space and project force)

 

Intecessors cost more in points, but have (with the regular bolt rifle) -1 ap and +6" of range.
