Dracos
This could go in my Warhawk "blog" but I want to keep this short and focused. I'm posting pictures of how I'm using Tacticus and land based Gravis units for my Warhawks. My next steps is to develop a color schem that works with both of these that maintains a visual continuity for my Officers (which I'll figure out later) Inceptors, and my Phobos units (which will include Reivers). I'm working on my Intercessors next so they will be the same as the Hellblasters. What I'm asking for here is some thoughts on the Phobos (Reivers) color pattern This is the current units color scheme I have 10 Aggressors, 15 Hellblasters, and I'll have 20 Intercessors. I'll be adding 10-20 Reivers depending on the Supplement Rules and adding 10 - 15 Infiltrators and/or Incursors. So the pattern I'm looking for will comprise about 20-25% of the army's infanyty personnel Thanks for any thoughts I have some of my own I'll share later but hoping my pals here might generate something fresh in my atrophied brain :) I'm still pretty focused on how to translate Shrike into <Counts As> Warhawk color scheme and this is going to a huge help so thanks just for throwing any ideas my way Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358101-soliciting-modelling-ideals/ Share on other sites
longjohnsilver
So you want the Reivers to be a different colour or share some colours? The White Dwarf with the Blood Raven Index (last month?) had some Ultramarine Reivers painted in a complex camo scheme which looked really amazing. Dracos
They is going to be a shared color theme based on Army Painter paints. . . Primaries - Desert Yellow - Army Green Details - Pure Red (power effects) - Flat Black (weapons: ranged and shooting) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358101-soliciting-modelling-ideals/#findComment-5379274 Share on other sites
MithrilForge
as seen above, those guys are straight blocks of the colours which looks good,... what if you made those two colours into a camo pattern with black mixed in for the Reivers, Incursors/infiltrators so that the same colour runs throught the army but the "sneaky" elements look sorta sneaky with camo on them... cheers, Mithril Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358101-soliciting-modelling-ideals/#findComment-5379764 Share on other sites
Dracos
I think you may have helped me there considering I’ve decided to revisit an older idea I had. If it has merit in the new Codex canon ... and maybe even if it doesn’t (?) I’m going to skip purchasing Infiltrators/Incursors. I love the models but the points are just higher than I can afford for what I want to do. Which is a double Battalion. I think I’m going to convert 10 Reivers into Scouts. I’ll use similar scheme for both the Scouts and Reivers so they both have a Vanguard “feel” but the Scouts will have no helmets no pauldrons and no back pack. The Scouts will use carbines and the Reivers will use HBP and CCW with grav chutes. I’m contacting Reliquary to see if he can make camo cloaks. If not I’ll check other third parties but I like his stuff. Mithril I already mixing Army Green with Desert Yellow for the Hellblasters and Intercessors Tacticus armor but pushing that I can paint the Phobos hands and lower legs to look like boots in Army Green. Through on a sponge camo cloak with green grey and black and that should substantially set the two units apart. Maybe mount them on 28mm bases for good measure. Edit: ok so no cloaks. The cost versus just taking the Incursors at that point isn’t worth it imo. Still weighing the savings versus the value of a bare bone scout versus an Incursor though. :) Thanks.
