"New" metallic base paints from GW

Recommended Posts

Greetings!

My last pot of Leadbelcher is nearly empty, and I wanted to order a new one, but then I noticed that GW has some new metallic base paints (yeah, I'm a bit late to the party...:teehee: ). Could someone give me an example of the difference between Leadbelcher, Iron Warriors and Iron Hands Steel?

I would like to use it mostly on my AT Titans and mostly on my Iron Hands. And of course as gunmetal on other warriors here and there.

Greetings!

Here's a way to look at it:

Leadbelcher is a middle tone. Iron Hands steel is brighter, Iron Warriors is darker. Grey Knights steel is the brightest, with a blueish tint

To give a visual, the metal skeleton on this Knight is Iron Warriors, washed with Nuln Oil and drybrushed with Necron Compound:

The silver railings on the carapace, icon on the carapace and meltagun, however, are Leadbelcher.

Iron Warriors is slightly darker, but seems shinier to me, than Leadbelcher.

Iron Hands Steel is brighter than Leadbelcher, but I haven’t checked it in comparison to Runefang Steel.

I have been using the Iron Warriors on the “silver” metallics on my Space Wolves starting here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/299262-drakeslayers-stalker-bolt-rifle-sqd-shading-complete/?p=5348246

Iron Warriors does seem to darken with Nuln Oil better than Leadbelcher, IMO.

Thank you all for the answers!
Well, the decision is even harder... I will need the Leadbelcher, because I didn't want the Titan to look to different from the others, but man these look lovely!

Especially the Grey Knight on the Battle Sister...
I might try the Iron Hand paint also but maybe not as a regular base paint...
