I almost don’t want to use this for my weekly friendly game, I don’t care what powers the termies roll up, as I’ll be using all my warp dice to turn on force.

Alpharius, Dynat, and Primus ride around in the spartan, just in case that isn’t obvious.

I'd swap Dynat for a cheaper HQ to be honest, not much reason to bring him when fielding Alpharius. In your current setup a Chaplain comes to mind.

Speaking of whom, your Primarch does not benefit from the Primus Medicae FnP.

Also, I don't really dig 'all eggs in one basket' units (over 1.600 pts. in this case), but that's a matter of personal taste of course.

And I'd select 'Scout' as my mutable tactic here, as opposed to infiltrate, so you can make use of the improved Outflank bestowed by Alpharius.

Can only take one Consul with Coils, so chaplain is out. Alpharius himself doesn’t gain the medicae’s FNP, but his extra ablative wounds from “look out sir” definitely do, as does Dynat.

Speaking of, Dynat is there as he isn’t significantly more expensive than a tricked out praetor and he can buff the termies shooting, has a one use Phosphex, plus gives +1 to damage table vs vehicles and +1 sweeping advance to the termie squad once they get to the enemy deployment zone, also has a thunder hammer to help Alpharius and the chainfists with taking down armor.

As far as mutable tactics, that depends on what would benefit me the most at the time, I have rhinos for the tactical specifically so I’m not stuck with infiltrate, which isn’t my preferred MT at all. Just wanted to clear the error BattleScribe kept giving me without one selected.

You will be exposed to fast moving lists (bike, javelin and scimitar heavy WS and DA) that will dance around your massive deathstar at a distance and focus on taking out your scoring tactical squads.

You will probably do good against IF and IW gunlines.

At 3k points you will likely face superheavies and other primarchs, Alpharius is not as good as the other primarchs at close combat.

Absolutely true, that’s why I included a lot of hard hitting and mobile ranged assets. My particular meta favors one of two flavors: heavy armor gunlines and null deploy orbital assault. I am looking to mitigate faster lists by deploying my grav rapiers as far forward as possible in cover to start dropping dangerous terrain checks/plates for movement control and start glancing out vehicles. We don’t have a DA player in the local Meta.

3k is the standard points per player in my local meta, Alpharius is a buff Primarch, not a melee Primarch, that’s why I always prefer his retinue to be melee focused to make up for his deficit. Though I have beaten Sangy in a challenge due to some very lucky dice rolling. In fact, one of the reasons I selected Sehkmet termies as my stolen unit for this list is the Vulkan + Firedrakes the local salamander player favors.

Any other critiques? I am digging this having other people wargame my list for me.

I find the Spartan having too much lascannons for what the vehicle is purposed to do, one gets tempted to max out on its shooting instead of maxing out on moving the vehicle to where the passengers need to be.

How about ditching Dynat, and shave a few more points to bring in a fire raptor that brings in more versatile dakka? That Deathstar is very competent without Dynat anyways. Unless you use scout and charge with the Spartan passengers turn one neither will do much turn one. You are reigning the air-space anyways with the Deredeo and Arcus, your Fireraptor will zoom around comfortably and put out fires/bring in VPs mid to late game.

Issue I run into with that is heavy support slots. Currently my Scorpious is doing some amazing work. I’ll play with the points and run a couple games with a raptor and see what I prefer though. That isn’t bad advice. I’m also not what most would call new. Dynat has several times over proven himself worthwhile with Phosphex or the versatility of using his two weapons in melee.

Can only take one Consul with Coils, ...

Damn, you're right of course. My bad, has been too long since I delved into CotH, I mostly play 'generic' rites with my XXth Legion.

Nevertheless, Chaplain beats Medicae in my book, so I'd ditch both Dynat and the Primus in favour of 'Hatred', but everybody favours a different playstyle and I can well see where you're coming from with your approach.

I do enjoy my chaplains. Actually bought a chaplain on a bike from a mod of this forum not too long ago. Know the guy IRL and he is a good hobby-buddy.

So I dig the fire raptor list. I’m playing a team game at my local spot this week (3vs3, 2.5k per person) but plan on running that variant next week.

Played around with the points, even removing the Scorpious, the points are so tight with what I want to do that Dynat is really the only HQ choice I can take that will still contribute, he does make the deathstar particularly brutal too, hitting on 2’s with retooled ones from preferred enemy, shred, then charging with 4x force swords swinging at initiative with 3 Axes and 3 chainfists as cleanup after Alpharius and Dynat’s own swings. The 2+/5++/5+++ relay works wonders with survivability.
