dice4thedicegod
Trying to put together some venatari for my custodes Not completely sure how I feel about them. The wings and tau jets didn’t mesh as well as I’d hoped. Not sure whether to do a major resculpt or just slap some paint on and see how it looks then! l Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358333-venatari-custodes-conversion/ Share on other sites
OakRiver
I think one factor you may wish to consider, is that the power plant between the wings is noticeably Tau. If you look at the Saunguinary Guard jump packs for inspiration that might help you achieve a more 'Imperial' feel. jaxom
In addition to reducing the power plant size, maybe consider shortening the fancy-wings to better match the silhouette of the tech-wings. Looking at the picture, that would be clipping them where they bend at the first joint and where they join the back and removing that portion to attach the out portion directly to the back. dice4thedicegod
That’s a good idea - off to clip some wings! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358333-venatari-custodes-conversion/#findComment-5386176 Share on other sites
dice4thedicegod
Definitely looking better with less wings . Possibly even more tau though! (But I think I like it ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358333-venatari-custodes-conversion/#findComment-5386210 Share on other sites
Lucerne
Honestly, I like this kitbash more than the vanilla models. The tau orbs along the spine probably need some adjusting though to look less obvious. If possible, a press mold GS of the Custodes aquila (on the shin of the Custodes) would be good. dice4thedicegod
That sounds like a good idea- I managed to make the third without an orb, will have to file/dremel the others off. Thanks for the ideas guys - you are making them much better! dice4thedicegod
Slapping some paint on, still wip Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358333-venatari-custodes-conversion/#findComment-5389900 Share on other sites
dice4thedicegod
Wasn,t sure about all gold (including jet panels and maybe buckler) or grey. Went with gray but not sure if the difference is to abrupt... perhaps the gray needs a heavier silver drybush to lighten it? dice4thedicegod
Or maybe dry brush the gray using gold, instead of silver... or would that look odd? jaxom
The pentagram of grey around the gold is good; it draws the eye to the face and upper torso. I'd pick out the vent above the head, the gun barrels and the tau-vents on the bottom of the wings with a heavy silver drybrush while leaving the rest at the grey it's at now. Then decide what details you want to deal with; for example: tabard, shield heraldry, hip dagger (misericordia). Darker tones will match with what you already have. dice4thedicegod
Good ideas. I’m deciding what/if the color of the scabbard should be, and the belt.
