Charlo
So I'm thinking of adding a BIG block of Blightlords to a Chaos Soup army. They seem to not really need much from the actual death guard rules, but how would you add these guys to a different chaos army? What's the best Detachment options for them? Support characters? Loadout? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358342-blightlords-allied-detachment/ Share on other sites
Closet Skeleton
Cheapest is probably: Nurgle Patrol Death Guard Terminator Lord or Sorcerer for deepstriking Nurgling base 10 blightlords with 2 flails and 2 blight launchers Since bolter discipline makes non-combi-plasma blightlords not care about Inexorable Advance. But a auxiliary support isn't actually out of the question if you just want 10 on their own. Nastier would be a full Nurgle battalion with Terminator Lord with arch contaminator warlord trait, Sorcerer or Plague Caster with Miasma of Pestilence and Blades of Putrifaction (these spells have the range to mean you don't have to deepstrike) and 3 nurgling units. If you have extra points replace the Terminator Lord with a winged daemon prince and maybe even swap one of the nurgling units for a big plague bearer blob. To be more thematic go with a Vanguard of 2 units of 5 blightlords, 3 deathshroud and a terminator lord or daemon prince. The +1 attack on the daemon prince from the deathshroud and hateful assault will probably put axe or sword daemon princes over the more popular talon ones since you can leave blendering low wound models to the blightlords. Charlo
All really helpful, thank you! How do you load out the blightlords? Combis/ Blight Launchers and Axes? Closet Skeleton
Depends on how much you want to invest. Always take flails. The kit only has 3 axes and so unless the extra point for the sword really ruins your list 6 axes 2 swords 2 flails is fine if you don't want to bother sourcing more axes. Just combi-bolters is actually decent if you want to be cheap but you can go all the way up to melta or plasma if you want. Wolf Lord Loki
You can take as many Blight cohorts as you like so possibly look for a elite detachment of 1 large blightlords squad and 2 3man blight cohorts to distract. They will get expensive real fast so I would keep them pretty basic. Either a sorcerer in term armour/ lord of Contagion or Typhus to flavour.
