General Strike
Hey, how would you guys go about building a White Scars Primaris army? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358374-white-scars-primaris/ Share on other sites
MeltaRange
If you are looking to get the most of the army, I think you should include some Bikes and potentially Terminators or Vanguard Veterans. But if your are just interested in a good looking Primaris army above all, then here's my take: White Scars fluff dictates that units are either have Bikes/Jump Packs or are deployed in a Transport. If you care about that, I'd aim for this type of theme. I think a dual battalion is a must, but not a big deal since you want Troops and HQ. You should consider all your units viable for assault, and generally should be moving forward because that's where you do the most damage. (you want your core units to reach the enemy on Turn 3) Kor'sarro Khan & Primaris Ancient w Banner of Eagle are 2 units that should probably be in your army. They combination of those allows basic Intercessors to be extremely dangerous to many units in the game. I would consider an Impulsor w/ Shield Dome for each to spread the threat as wide as possible. (perhaps with 10 Veteran Intercessors in the Repulsor next to them...see below) I think the Repulsor Executioner is great in WS, particularly because of the choice to use Encirclement on it if you believe it will be destroyed before you can shoot, or will have trouble getting LOS on something. Would be interesting option to put 6 Incursors in there to drop off after it appears and either harass some smaller units or take an objective or something. One of the things I'm most excited about WS is that I think it makes a single Repulsor viable because you can utilize auto-launchers and Ride Hard Ride Fast to make it -2 to hit (on top of the other tricks like Might of Heroes and Psychic Barrier + Armor of Contempt) which makes it very hard to take down with any conventional method and thus can deliver your unit quickly and safely. The Stormspeeking Discipline is incredibly good so I suggest you bring a Librarian or 2. All that being said, I'm loving something like: (this is a guess on points) Kor'sarro Khan Primaris Librarian Librarian in Phobos w Tome of Malcador (choose Null Zone or Might of Heroes) Primaris Lt with Power Sword (+Master Crafted Relic) 10 Intercessors w Bolt Rifles (in Repulsor) 10 Intercessors w Auto Bolt Rifles 5 Incursors 5 Incursors (in Executioner) 5 Infiltrators w Helix 5 Veteran Intercessors w Auto Bolt Rifles, Thunder Hammer (in Impulsor) Primaris Ancient (Banner of Eagle) Repulsor Executioner w Plasma 5 Hellblasters (in Impulsor) Repulsor bare bones Impulsor Impulsor Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358374-white-scars-primaris/#findComment-5389332 Share on other sites
WickedJester1013
Can the librarian in Phobos choose not to take the vanguard powers? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358374-white-scars-primaris/#findComment-5390459 Share on other sites
MeltaRange
Can the librarian in Phobos choose not to take the vanguard powers? I'm sorry, you are correct. Phobos Libby can't take Librarius. Armament81
@MeltaRange, I do exaxtly what you said, just on my Jump Libby, but in reverse. I take Might of Heros and Null Zone, then tome in Storm Wreathed, and then run a Phobos Libby with Storm Wreathed and Ride the winds. Works really nice. (Obviously if your trying to be pure Primaris you wouldn't use the jump libby.) A good combo could be to take those and tome in the Shadow Tunnel power (forget the name) to throw some Reivers forward. zero88
I'd definitely outflank a unit of 6 Bolt Aggressors. It's perfect to make sure they survive first turn then arrive with tactical Doctrine in place. Then WS have the Fierce Rivalries Strategem to get them into combat without needing any other assistance.
