b1soul
Corax seems to be Warp-boosted but not Chaos corrupted. Are there other any other examples of individuals immersed in Warp energy who avoid Chaos corruption? I suppose the only one I can think of is Kaldor Draigo. Or perhaps Corax is in the process of falling to Chaos, and his powers are a sign of initial taint. Or perhaps a primarch with sufficient willpower and a certain disposition to resist the temptations of Chaos can minimise taint when drawing power from the Warp? Any interesting theories? PeteySödes
Wulfen are a good example. The warp is involved but the mutation is triggered by the geneseed to prevent corruption. Theres enough lore around the Primarchs having ties to the warp I could see some cool stuff happening. Shadow Corax would be cooler than Werewolf Russ. DeadFingers
From the conversation he had with Lorgar before their fight: 'What has happened to you, brother?' 'I have ascended,' said Lorgar. He indicated Corax with a twitch of his rod. 'I might ask the same of you.' The Ravenlord strode forwards, intent on Lorgar Aurelian. Kalta-Ar and his warriors scattered before him, grateful to be free of his wrath. Marduk and his coterie closed about their primarch but a look sent them away. 'I am what I always have been,' said Corax. 'I am vengeance incarnate. I am justice delivered. This place, beyond the veil, has revealed what we all are. Underneath the veneer of humanity our father crafted for us, we are of the warp.' I think the idea is that Corax has fully embraced his true nature. All Primarchs were made from "Warpstuff", it just manifested more clearly on some of them, Magnus being the most extreme example. Corax already had his "Wraith-slip" before going into the Eye. Now, by virtue of being in the Warp, he's become empowered, but not in a tainted or corrupt way, or by external influence, but by not repressing or denying the fact that he always had those powers. Elzender
Maybe they are a "power-up" from his invisibility psychic power? If I recall correctly, his power actually consisted on altering other people's perceptions so that they were unable to see him. Staying in the Warp for long might have expanded this ability so that he can alter the perception not only to disappear, but to appear in a completely different way (a bit like the Emperor, but more focused on causing fear instead of adapting to the viewer mindset). Sword Brother Adelard
You also have Curze's (and others') foresight. Which is not the same as that granted by Tzeentch. Brother Captain Ed
Yeah, whatever the Primarchs are defies categorization. The Emperor struck some kind of bargain with Chaos to create them and He Himself was no slouch in the creating transhumans and wielding the power of the Warp department. Each and every one appears to have some sort of supernatural ability (above and beyond being genecrafted paragons of humanity, of course) just to varying degrees of acceptance and ability. In Dark Imperium (I think) Guilliman is beginning to figure this out as he expresses unease that the Emperor's Sword starts burning when he wields it. He knows that because he is not a psyker it shouldn't do that. duz_
Without too many spoilers where is that conversation from? I thought I've read most RG / corax specific books and don't recall that interaction Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358517-status-of-corax/#findComment-5391160 Share on other sites
SkimaskMohawk
Shadows of the past. It's in the sons of the emperor anthology that only went available earlier this year, so it's not surprising people are unfamiliar with it. Basically corax is the reason lorgar went and hid in a temple for ten thousand years. Claws and Effect
Shadows of the past. It's in the sons of the emperor anthology that only went available earlier this year, so it's not surprising people are unfamiliar with it. Basically corax is the reason lorgar went and hid in a temple for ten thousand years. Yeah, Corax is even more of a badass now. Lorgar went and hid because he realized that he couldn't win that fight, even daemonically ascended as he was. b1soul
I'm not a huge fan of Thorpe's writing style but he comes up with some nice fluff ideas Like the idea of those TSons and SW caught in the time vortex on Prospero Love the idea of a half-mad shadow Corax, like a vengeful fury of Achaean myth Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358517-status-of-corax/#findComment-5393836 Share on other sites
