Frostglaive
I have a (nearly) fully painted Adeptus Mechanicus army... and I'm seriously considering trying to convert it into a Dark Mechanicum army. I have yet to figure out an overall theme or anything of the sort, this is right now just a "Hey, I think I want to do this" idea. Are there any tutorials or advice you can give about trying to do this? Or would I be better off just buying and converting new models entirely? PeteySödes
I guess I'd just sacrifice a few models to the dark gods to sketch around a bit and see how you like it. I'd be shocked if there were "how to's" on it but thats how id approach it at least. Start small and experiment. Exilyth
I'd search the gallery here and on other sites for 'dark mechanicum' for inspiration (some WIP threads show how the models were made). Then take a pen and some paper and make some sketches of how the result should look like. (Alternatively: use paint/gimp/inkscape/photoshop to combine images of models e.g. from the games workshop online shop). Then, once you know what you want to go for, you will be able to think about how to archieve that look, e.g. skitari w/some chaos bits is propably easier for reusing existing models while something like 'floating servitors with tentacles' could require kitbashing some skitari, tau drone and chaos spawn parts together. MegaVolt87
If they are painted, green stuff sculpting then careful painting will do it. If they are just grey plastic put them in the freezer overnight to de-construct them. Use simple green if you are wanting to do more than sculpting with GS, then re-paint the whole thing.
