The_Stray_Idea
It’s been a while since I have been on the power armour kick. The new marine supplements have invigorated my creative juices going. Having been a long time fan of the Raven Guard it seems like it’s the right time to get started with all the new marine elements having been released. The task force is based around counter insurgent missions on a jungle world, hunting down gene cults trying to cut off the head before the hive fleet arrives. So with an initial army planned around the 10th company I have a few pieces finished that have been used as a template for more numerous units. PowerHungryMonkey
I'm not much of a fan of the Phobos 'Spec Ops' theme but if there's any chapter to pull it off its the Raven Guard, and man have you done it! These guys look great. Especially love the librarian with the muted tones and deep purples. Sets him apart as a Libby but also doesn't have the contradicting scheme of camo and BRIGHT BLUE armour. Very nice Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358869-raven-guard-task-force-fuga-umbra/#findComment-5400203 Share on other sites
ImperialTuba
Really impressive! I'm dreading painting my Phobos captain (or any other Phobos units I acquire in the future) because of all the small details. The_Stray_Idea
Iv not had much brush time this week. Slowly been building some bits and pieces up but have been getting stuck into one of the new warsuits. Definitely been a challenge smoothing out the greens in the armour on a larger scale. It’s also given me a chance to practice some of the freehand elements that will be turning up as the project progresses. Thanks to all for the kind words so far. @PowerHungryMonkey it’s strange you point that out as I caught flack with in my usual group for not having the blue of the libarius on that piece. @ImperialTuba I have actually found the design of phobos much easier to approach the edge and glaze techniques on this project easier to work with than the normal primaris line. Although there are some smaller details on the phobos stuff it’s very intentionally placed and I wouldn’t consider any of it difficult to work on. Don’t let the details out you off as they are great fun. Kolgrim DeathHowl
Really well done, the color scheme on the robe of the hooded one (think its the librarian) looks really cool! The_Stray_Idea
Just a quick update while I wait for paint to dry on the next few additions to the task force. I have been looking more into the lore and structure of the 10th company and it didn’t feel right not to have the full command. One name jumps out Shadow Captain Korvydae. With the last real bit of lore having him disappearing off to fight in the Death Watch for a couple of years I wanted to capture that in my rendition of him. Whilst working on him I was fidgeting with bits and decided that every company needs a champion. In game he will lead my company vets (vanguard vets) and simply be a Sargent with master crafted lightning claws. Hope you all enjoy. Bjorn Firewalker
Are the retractable lightning claws from a new Games Workshop model, or a third party? The_Stray_Idea
@Bjorn Firewalker thanks man the war suit and suppressors were a lot of fun to work on. The lt just painted itself I honestly don’t think I’ve painted something that felt that easy in a long time. @Kolgrim Deathhowl cheers fella. I’ve started working on Shrike having already repurposed his claws there wasn’t really a lot to stop me getting chop happy with the rest of him. The phobos armour jump jets on the legs combo felt a little off and if I’m honest wasn’t a fan of the face. The lower mask from an infiltrator helmet when he had a helmet on his belt some what threw me off. Still plenty to work out like the lack of claws I currently have but here is how I left him. Jukkiz
Love idea and conversion. I thougth claws, considering size, were meant to go to that bridge under boots so shrike would have claws to use when he lands on enemies. BUT, this might be better idea then what i had.
