Kaldoth
Hey all, I had a question on Tau and just how far out they reach in the galaxy? I know the Tau empire is located in the eastern portion of the Ultima Segmentum slightly North East of Smurfland. Given that they don't really have warp travel like most other forces, just how far out do they go? I would assume the Farsight Enclaves would be the furthest reaching Tau settlements? Any help would be appreciated! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358924-how-far-out-do-the-tau-range/ Share on other sites
Panzer
Well that's difficult to answer. Normally not very far since they don't have any Faster Than Light travel like the other races, however recently they've established a stable wormhole by accident that leads to who knows where. It's nowhere said or shown. However we know that the Blood Angels and Flesh Tearers fought back some T'au in recent history so the best guess is that the wormhole leads to somewhere on the other side of the Great Rift. The Farsight Enclaves are at the edge of the T'au Empire but still within the T'au Empire so technically they don't reach further than the T'au Empire themselves. Unless something else is revealed they have even less reach since they shouldn't be able to access the heavily defended wormhole. Happy-inquisitor
The Tau empire itself is not very big - smaller in extent than Ultramar. The Farsight Enclaves are really small and the other side of the Damocles gulf which puts them right on the very edge of the Tau range after the first 3 spheres of expansion. The 4th sphere expansion had a little warp incident and ended up in some other part of the galaxy. The location of this is not yet fully revealed but best guess is somewhere on the Nihilus side of the galaxy. They have a stable wormhole back to the main Tau empire so weirdly while Tau have rapidly given up warp drives again after their failed experiment they may be able to cross between the two halves of the galaxy more safely than the warp enabled races. For what it's worth Kroot range out a lot further and are a warp capable race in their own way, but they do not willingly share that tech with their employers. Other Tau allies are also possibly more wide-ranging than the Tau themselves. Panzer
Reading the wikis I actually figured out where the wormhole leads to. At least roughly. The BA Codex says that the planets they reclaimed from the T'au are located in the Red Scar area which is in the Cryptus system. The Cryptus system is located roughly there: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/358924-how-far-out-do-the-tau-range/#findComment-5401579 Share on other sites
