Does the Tallyman's Seven-fold Chant work in a transport?

The Tallyman's ability entitled "The Seven-fold Chant" states:  "If your army is Battle-forged and you have any Tallymen on the battlefield, roll 2D6 each time you spend Command Points to use a Death Guard Stratagem (pg 98-99).  If the result is 7, Nurgle bestows his blessing upon your army; the Command Points spent to use that Stratagem are immediately refunded."

Does this work if the Tallyman is in a transport?  Does being in a transport count as being "on the battlefield"?

Thanks.

When a unit embarks in a transport you "remove it from the battlefield" - I therefore can't see how you can be counted as being on the battlefield.

That said, for deployment purposes, putting a unit on a transport counts as putting it on the battlefield.   So it's not as clear as I thought.

I had thought there was something in the main FAQ on this, but I can't seem to find it.

Would the general rule for transports (page 137 of the main book) prevent the Taliman's rules from triggering?  It states that units in transports "cannot normally do anything or be affected in any way whilst they are embarked".
