The new traits look interesting for Craftworlders. Nothing game-breaking but there is some definite flavour to be had there.

"Acrobat Display" though looks amazing for Wyches. A 3++ in melee turns them into the ultimate tarpit unit considering their modest cost, especially as they can stop enemy from falling back if they win or draw a roll-off.

Eh, I kinda like that their Tactic isn't just a bonus for Wraith troops only, but given the changes done to Chapter Tactics, I wouldn't be surprised if they get that too in the new rules. I don't like any Army Tactic that only applies to a specific unit/weapon. The Iyandenian (or whatever the term for that should be. Iyandeni? Iyandenish?) Eldar have more to them than "they use Wraith troops lots".

From the stream, forgot to grab the data sheets for the new models.

Really liking "Expert Crafters" for CWE. Reroll 1 to hit and 1 to wound for every unit in every shooting, overwatch and melee phase is really strong, especially with MSU. Salamanders are a bit of a sleeper hit with the new SM Dex. You can basically do without the regular Autarch or Doomseer which frees up support HQ slots or psychic powers. Given that you can stack a second Trait on top of it, I am really liking it for aggressive lists.

I wonder how the craftworld rules will stack up to the Warhosts of the Pale Courts rules that appeared in the second printing of The Doom of Mymeara. I had a hankering to update those for 8th edition, but it looks like GW beat me to the punch. This is indeed great news for fans of the aeldari.

Only concern to me at least, is it looks like you lose access to any of the specific strategems, relics, and warlord traits unlike marines which can just say, "I'm a successor to x"  On the GMG video managed to read the page and was hoping to see something about having a patron or something, but there is no mention of anything like successors, that I saw at least, so that feels like a bit of a blow to the "create your own kabal/cwe thing".  Really hoping I just missed something.  Obviously depending on your army set up and frequency of use it might not be a big deal, but certain combinations (like losing writ of the living muse as an example) seems hard to make up for with the relative strength of the choices.

For DE at least I mainly see the wych cult things having use, though could depend on army composition, reaver users for example would be much better off w/ red grief.  I have a hard time seeing Coven giving up a 4++, as survival tends to be paramount for coven.  I find it surprising that I feel that way since there are some interesting choices don't get me wrong, like -1 dmg since that works on venoms or raiders brought as coven, adding 1 to charges, experimental creations, and obsessive collectors, but coven's issue isn't killing power.... its making it there to do the damage in the first place.  Obviously requires some playing around to know for sure, just saying at first glance.  Certainly look forward to playing around with it, just unsure it will make a lasting impact if we lose access to relics/strats/traits.

From what we've heard though, they're not boosting the existing Obsessions, so it seems it might be a trade-off between getting two army-wide boosts, and getting one plus a Warlord trait/Relic/Stratagem.

To be fair, some existing Obsessions have 2-parts (Flayed Skull and Cursed Blade for example). In a lot of cases it seems to depend on whether all/most of the army benefits from a Obsession or only a subset.

Most of the new Traits in BotP seem to be fairly modest in scope so having 2 seems reasonable. Whether it is worth giving up access to particular traits/relics/strats/characters will depend to some extent on how you build your army.

I play CWE most so Alaitoc is a hard beast to top but I can see some mileage in a Spearhead detachment of 3 MSU Reaper squads with "Expert Crafters" (reroll 1 to-hit and 1 to-wound when they shoot) and something else could be tasty. The Exarch can either take Crack Shot or the new +1 shot power for built-in rerolls so no real need for a buffing character. Take a cheap Warlock HQ (maybe with one of the new Fortune powers) and Protect/Jinx and put the whole lot in a Serpent for T1 protection. That's about 500 points for a lot of self-sufficient firepower. Worth losing Alaitoc for on that Detachment? Maybe.....

I'm loving this, as my Kabal didn't really fit any of the main 4 Kabals, so I'd previously just gone with Black Heart because, well, they weren't craftsmen, pilots, or master poisoners, so it was the least different. Now I've got the terror tactic leadership debuff for my Kabal that I've always wanted, even if it's not exactly the most competitive option.

...Of course, now I've got my "Herald" Archon converted up from Kurdross Valentian to represent a guy with the Writ that I won't be able to use, so guess he's just a cool conversion now.

I'm thinking of combining Expert Crafters with Diviners of Fate. (6+ Invul is something I am very much acquainted with as a Sisters of Battle player)

I would be tempted to take the trait that gives the unit the benefit of cover when they are >12" from the enemy.

A 6++ is very situational at best. Guardians get no benefit from it until they are getting shot but AP-2 weapons and Aspect warriors don't benefit until they are getting hit by plasma. Your Heavy aspect warriors, Wraith units and vehicles don't benefit unless your opponent is throwing AP-4 shots at them .

A +1 to all your armour saves is generally going to be a lot more beneficial.

Just noticed "Obsessive Collectors" for Haemonculus Covens.

"When an enemy model is destroyed as a result of melee weapon from a unit in your army with this obsession, you can select one model from that unit to regain d3 lost wounds, if the unit is a rack you can instead return d3 destroyed models."

Every time a model is destroyed! That means a decent melee unit can proc this ability multiple times per combat. Talos spam was already a thing but this just boosts it to lethal levels. A think a Spearhead of Taloi with this trait and Haywire might just counter all those Iron Hands lists that are cropping up.
