Access to the Impulsor

I am of the opinion that more options is always better. Besides, the Deathwatch are all about iNnOvAtIoN, right? Cawl's been innovating, why don't you get the innovated stuff?

Absolutely. Historically and lorewise I completely agree. I'm just speaking if functional wise, it's something DW really don't -need-.

But yea, as far as using 'new' stuff for some reason DW have fallen behind. I don't understand at all why the new Warsuits, Inceptors, etc, aren't in there.

I still like to think of DW as commandos, we call in tanks and artillery bombardments but we do not have any. I have no problem with not having a flying toaster and I agree with Prot, Drop pods all the way, especially with our alpha strike tools.

They need to allow Primaris in our :cuss flier, they spent a lot of money on the moulds and I know without a doubt that every one of us here would go out and buy another if we could put our new brethren in them. At this point I would easily prefer if they made them Primaris only.

Impulsor is great for primaris on field mobility and it would fit with the “vanguard” fluff

Ironically DW have no access to most of the "vanguard" units released in the boxset. To this day most of that stuff is off limits. The Impulsor has to become available, just to be honest I probably wouldn't use it. Only White Scars get a really cool use out of it.

“The Salamanders and Imperial Fists take their turn in the spotlight with the releases of their codex supplements, alongside new units for every Space Marines army – all available to pre-order from next Saturday.”

Little cut I took from the Sunday article. Guess we don’t count as a Space Marine army anymore because we can’t take any of these units.

For me it’s not about what makes the army better, it’s adding of diversity and options. I could find a use for it somewhere.

Off topic, but how are you liking the Executioner Prot? It just doesn’t look worth it to me in paper(for DW). Cost is pretty high, it doesn’t get any DW benefits without a babysitter, and against anything with an invuln it seems ineffective.

We lack Anti Vehicle options in the codex, but I struggle to find the points to bring it. Usually end up going Guard Tank Commanders or something else for my Anti Vehicle,

Before the new Ultra codex came out, I was using 3 of these. The 'babysitter' is making a lot of money in that scenario.

I would definitely use with the Ectoclades/Watchmaster.

Eh i think its POSSIBLE that DW is given access to several of the new things now that with this release everything will be out, as thats how they previously handled the first primaris release and DW.  I wouldn't count on it though.  If there isn't an FAQ w/in 2-3 weeks then DW likely won't see anything until they get around to us like how DA/BA/SW are waiting for their upgrade to doctrine level marines as well.

On the merit of the impulsor in DW lists though... i don't really see it, most of what we do with Primaris involves larger squads.  Its rule of being able to disembark after moving and shoot would be better served on normal marines than Primaris, at least currently for DW.  Having something like that for a group of frag cannons would be insane,  but probably also super broken.  Although when looking at Iron hands power creep, it probably wouldn't be a big deal.

I’m thinking/hoping we’ll get access to the models when our new codex drops(whenever that is) as well. Our uniqueness is kill teams where each model brings a new rule. I’m assuming GW is wanting to sort those rules out before giving us access to them. Although I was hoping we’d get access to the units now and then the special kill team rules for them later.

I’m now just wish list hoping that PA will give us a primaris Watch Master, Primaris Watch Captain and a Primaris Vet squad. Writing is on the wall that old marines are slowly phasing out so I’d like to see some Unique DeathWatch primaris models. (Don’t we all at this point)

I think with our access to SIA the Impulsor gives us some unique T1 Alpha strike potential. It is only 6 dudes per, but it’s still a good vessel to get primaris mid table and shooting T1.

Seriously though, do we want it? Repulsor executioner is an amazing gap filler for Deathwatch. Pods just got much better, and we can deep strike.

I completely agree that we don't necessarily need it, as we get more efficient use from drop pods for our veterans and can DS and/or beacon Primaris units to the front. However, some of the options it has, specifically the bombardment array & the shield dome, could be pretty handy IMO.

I agree! If our flyer could take Primaris units, I'd go out and by an air wing of them in a heart beat. They're a cool looking model and I like the idea of them, but most of my army is Primaris, so it's points I could more effectively use elsewhere.

I do hope they keep the model and not reinvent another to take its place. Its a clean new design that would quite happily mix with the new Primaris models.

My Gravis Captain is still ready to be in the DW two years later... Perhaps but they want to have a Primaris model with the same kind of character as the Watch Master? At some point they have to give us the Frag Cannon on our Primaris, its like the Xenophase sword, its part of our identity.

I would of really liked some developer interviews when this new wave of codexs hit, one for each army to tell us where we are heading, I suppose that is part of the journey though.

The fact that bikes can go in a Blackstar but not Primaris gives me a headache.

Primaris cannot go into a Blackstar just for marketing reasons (to push sales of the new veichles)

Not having access to Impulsor sucks but i hope they will fix it soon with Incursors and Infiltrators too

It sucks not to have access to Eliminators but they have left shoulder pads moulded into left arms so it's not possibile for DW to apply their iconic shoulder pads and this prevents us to take that unit (the same for the Phobos Libby and Captain)
