Lord Sinaris
Hey guys. I've recently talked to an Eldar friend of mine who has built a pretty nice list centered around Aspect Warriors and the Phoenix Lords. I hear they are being brought back by GW (he's still got all the original metal ones) and its a pretty fun, flavorful list. Anyway, as a Space Marine, it got me thinking if there was a way to somewhat replicate that feeling by creating a list centered around iconic Space Marine characters and some units matching them the way that the Aspect Warriors match their Lords. Now, this isn't really about creating a real list, but I still wanted to use real units. I also considered using only chapter masters for the Space Marines, but that would mean missing out on some cool characters, and guys like Dante and Azrael (and worse, Gulliman) seemed a bit too "big" to match the Lords. Anyway, here's what I got so far, starting with the six original, non-FW Phoenix Lords: Asurmen (Dire Avengers) - Marneus Calgar, accompanied by (Veteran) Intercessors Baharroth (Swooping Hawks) - Pedro Cantor, accompanied by Sternguard Veterans in a Drop Pod [tough one] Fuegan (Fire Dragons) - Vulkan He'stan, accompanied by Company Veterans with Meltaguns (and maybe Stormshields, because why not) Karandras (Striking Scorpions) - Kayvaan Shrike, accompanied by Vanguard Veterans with Jump Packs and Chainswords Jain Zar (Howling Banshees) - Kor'sarro Khan, accompanied by Company Veterans on Bikes with Power Swords Maugan Ra (Dark Reapers) - No idea really. Devastator Squads seem logical, but I have no clue for an interesting character there. Some of these are a bit of a stretch I guess, but I wanted to include a mixture of chapters, to create that "gathering of champions" feeling from the Phoenix Lord list, and still find units matching the characters (that's why Cantor doesn't get the Inceptors that are much more like Hawks, but Sternguard who belong with him). I played around with some ideas for Lysander and Helbrecht, but couldn't find an angle. I am excited to see if you guys have any ideas or comments on this ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359222-imperial-phoenix-lords/ Share on other sites
Marshal van Trapp
Technically Sergeant Chronus (the tank guy) is the most devastator like HQ SM have Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359222-imperial-phoenix-lords/#findComment-5408166 Share on other sites
chapter master 454
Well if you give it a moment, you can go Tor Garadon with 6 Aggressors. Other option I feel would be Hammernators with Lysander. They Reap a Dark toll on the enemy. Really, I think they way you are going Tor is the only option backing Hellblasters or Aggressors Or I suppose you could do Feiros for similar effect. Panzer
You can do basically any kind of Captain + melee Marine unit. Especially now that we even have sneaky Primaris Captains. Only the shooty units are difficult because we don't have shooty characters apart from the Sniper Captain in Phobos armour and combi-weapons for Captains. Iron Father Ferrum
The Techmarine with conversion beamer and combi-weapon disagrees with that statement. Panzer
I keep forgetting about the conversion beamer, though it's a unique weapon in the Marine range anyway. Everything else is Las, Plasma, Melta or whatever. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359222-imperial-phoenix-lords/#findComment-5408453 Share on other sites
Iron Father Ferrum
I'd say it's really become a FW weapon. Variants of it are available on a Badab character, the relic Predator, and Comtemptor Dreadnoughts.
