Boldthreat
Hey all. So Imperial Fists 2nd Company. I’ve got a DIY army going.. but part of me is itching to paint some of the OG sons of Dorn. Traditionally I’d go 5th Company. The black just looks so good. But A: It’s always 3rd or 5th. And B: I hate the whole rainbow Company color system! Now since I want to try to stick as close as possible to the lore. I’ve been eyeballing the 2nd Company. I’m not going to do gold trim. I was thinking of just leaving it the same golden yellow as the rest of the armor. But... do you think that looks a bit bland? I kind of do. So I was thinking of adding a bit of black elsewhere to break up the yellow. I’m thinking backpacks are black. And at least one knee pad black with a yellow vertical stripe. For a company marking. In lore, do not Company Captains have some leeway on company heraldry? There is president for black backpacks and such in the old Legion. Would this be off putting? I’ll mock it up when I get home and see if it jives. Lunch time blues lol. Bryan Blaire
The Codex allowed for a variety of marking schemes and even encouraged changing how heraldry markings are done to "keep the enemy guessing" once upon a time. You could do something like a black knee pad with a slanted band of the company heraldry color, or the skull on the Aquila, or the pad rims, or a a full knee pad, etc., and all still be "Codex-compliant" for markings.
