Primaris exist. They're very firmly in the lore now. Its almost 100% not going to vanish as if it never happened.

Just looks like (as most have always expected) they'll gradually gain more ornate models where relevant.

But yeah, the model seems like it's really top notch and PROBABLY the best loyalist marine character model to date of all the plastic ones. Which is nice.

Just find one of the Shrike heads that nobody is using and paint his hair blonde. Problem solved.

You do realize how Space Marines work, right?

The helmet deadens their senses (this is canon across many different BL novels, by different BL writers). Also, marines can survive half their head being blown off. The helmets are only sometimes useful in being used for what helmets are supposed to be used for.

Think of it like this: If it's going to be something powerful enough to kill a marine, the helmet isn't going to protect them.

Um, no. Just no. About the only novels that try this dumb excuse are Space Wolf ones, due to their collective stupidity. In about every other book, helmets vastly expand SM senses and allow them to do things they normally can't (like seeing in different radiation spectra, etc). If they were even remotely dulling senses, SM would use Cadian style helmets, open to eyes and ears. The fact no SM chapter ever did so over last 10.000 years plainly proves SW nonsense wrong.

My last response on this, because it's getting off-topic:

A Blood Angels sergeant from the Night Lords trilogy would argue that point about the Space Wolves. I can put the exact quote where it says he removes his helmet on the Night Lords vessel because he trusts his own sense better than the autosenses of the helmet. Because I just read that part of the novel two days ago.

Again, in the novels it's been shown that something as simple as a Marine PUNCHING another Marine in the face is enough to render the helmet's lenses and sensor suit unusable. If the weapon is powerful enough to penetrate a marine's armour, the helmet is basically pointless as it provides no protection.

As a sort of tangent, in a number of the stories over the years the helmet is shown to be the only piece of the armour that gets removed when damaged - shoulder takes a hit, run around with a dented shoulder, chest takes a hit, run around with a hole in the chest, helmet takes a decent hit - well now the auto senses are damaged and filling the eyepieces with static and flashing lines, take that thing off and carry on with the mission...

You know, a few days ago, Youtube all-knowing algorithm, though to present me this video in the recommendations :

Helmets do protect, not only from bullet....for in the grimdark future, it would be very unlucky to die from a piece of junk fallen from some Hive-world hundreds meters tall structure, most notably after enduring years and years of selection and training to become an Astartes.

And, the thing about Astartes being able to "work" with only half their head....well i appear to be possible only if it is the Lower part of the head, like it happened my time during WW1 and WW2, but mostly the first. But the thing about being able to act with only half your brain, no, just no, even for Astartes.

----------------------------------------------

A little more on the matter...

Space Marines helmets offers many advantages and problems.

On the side of advantages, it not only provide auto-senses that increases the user senses, but also, information chanel about tactical/strategical information, squad status.....etc.

It also provide a protection that is quite efficient, as well as another kind of protection in the form of regulating automatically the auto-senses. (So that a sound that should harm your ears is filtered, same for blinding light.)

On the side of the disadvantages, like all technological things, even resilient ones, the Space Marines helmet may easily become damaged. (It become hard to see if your right lense become defective or is damaged, forcing you to remove you helmet). Plus, due to some genetic specificities, some Astartes like the Space Wolves do possess some enhanced senses.

-----------------

And finally and the subject of Mephiston, since he is one of the most powerful psyker, he can mentally contact his brothers, senses the presences surrounding him, and project a psychic protection to protect his head.^^ (This plus many other things i believe.)

Aside from smash captains and early Dante flyer swarms BA has been super lackluster this edition. I’m so hoping we get a nice boost and I’m super excited that Mephiston is leading the charge. The fact that our uniqueness as a chapter is tied to iconic “mini marine” units like DC or expensive sang guard has made this a tough go in our local gaming group. The huge boost to the SM codices has been directly tied to making primaris units better (through doctrines, buffs, or strats).

I hope meph will bring the same for our unique units, and better rules and miniature befitting Dante are a close follow.

anyone else really interested to see what his head looks like now? I always loved classic Mephistons head, so hoping he has had a good update, the marine heads have generally been good for a while now.

Good thing plastic models are easier to convert then metal ones and nowdays heads are separate parts too. Whew

True, but i'd still hope that his new head is a good one!

If Dante dies such an undignified schlocky death as not surviving the rubicon, then Guilliman better die choking on a grape and Abbadon dies on the toilet after too much red meat and the whole thing burns down.

Ahem.

Mephiston doesn’t wear a helmet for the same reason a long-haired biker doesn’t: the power of bad- :cuss -ery protects him.

The music is terrible for the teaser.

Ha, I loved it!

Primaris does not exists, only resized Astartes exists, the Emperor Protect.

....

(The new Mephiston give me hope that Primaris will end up as resized/redesigned Astartes. In the end, "All Eyes Shall Be Opened".)

Honestly, you're just deluded if this is the attitude...

For me its a happy thing lol.

Primaris

Not sure it matters too much? everyone wanted him to be bigger - he will be. He rarely got put in transports anyway, so not being able to use rhinos/land raiders anymore is unlikely to matter either. And his design looks to be SO CLOSE to the classic art that other than his boots and presumably power pack, he won't LOOK especially primaris :smile.:

How do you know he is? Except for the price leak, I didn’t find evidence for a Primaris upgrade in the video.

Rules-wise, being embiggened is actually bad since he can’t go into drop pods, stomravens, rhinos/razorbacks and has to rely on the very expensive (money) primaris transports.

Greave. He's clearly wearing a Primaris greave. So either he's just wearing Primaris armor because... reasons, or he's Primaris now, which is more likely.

I didn't catch that the right hand might be over the mouth similar to the old art until now. I suppose his pistol might be holstered? I kinda love that, I always felt the plasma pistol was a little awkward on Meph. May be just me though.

Will he have fangs?

Also, I'm a little concerned on his new point cost. In my opinion he's currently just about right/just a bit overpriced. I hope he doesn't get too much point increase. All depends on the stats and rules change of course.
The Primaris +1W, +1A are expected.

Not keen on him being Primaris, but if it's not obvious I can work with that (knees should be hidden behind his power skirt). Especially if the model is based off the classic artwork! I do love my old model but it is getting a bit on now, a new properly scaled one would be neat.

Well, the only two characters to get Primarized so far got:

- Calgar got +1" M, +1T, +1A, +1W and his aura went from re-roll failed to re-roll all hits (although lost Teleport Strike)

- Tiggy got +1A, +1W, +1 to psychic tests, his rod got an extra 2 AP and his -1 to hit ability works in melee too now.

And they both remained the same point cost. So I'm very curious what they'll give the Lord of Death.

The rule changes for him are honestly only secondary for me. He's one of my favourite characters and his rules already are decent, so what I'm really interested in is mainly the new model and what crossing the Rubicon Primaris means for his background.
