angrom
Hi all. I would just like to confirm one detail about our rules. As I understand it seize the initiative for the first turn happen at the beginning of the first round before first turn begin as well as our warlird trait master of ambush. So it means we can wait to see who definitly gets the first turn before using it am I right? SanguinaryGuardsman
Hi all. I would just like to confirm one detail about our rules. So it means we can wait to see who definitly gets the first turn before using it am I right? Yeah it occurs after the seize roll which is why it is so strong. When playing filthy casuals you should be prepared to refute any claims otherwise although I'm not sure where exactly this has been address by GW. It is in one of the many FAQs somewhere. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359411-master-of-ambush-and-seize-initiative/#findComment-5413508 Share on other sites
Shadow Captain Vyper
I typically point out to people that First Turn roll and Seize the Initiative are both part of the deployment portion of the game. MoA and our other good stuff explicitly states that it occurs after that but before the first round begins. Dracos
Filthy casuals? Doesn’t sound like a term of endearment :) Bad experience ? I just looked and Deployment is its own section in the mission descriptions, and so is First Turn. Under First Turn is where it lists one should make the roll to seize. MoA is "At the start of the first battle round, before the first turn begins". Is it not reasonable to argue that when the First Turn section starts then the first turn has begun, i.e. the first turn begins before seizing? Or am I missing something? Brom MKIV
Don't have my rules handy but seize is done before the game starts but after deployment. MoA is at the start of the first battle round. Subtle but there's the difference. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359411-master-of-ambush-and-seize-initiative/#findComment-5413644 Share on other sites
dode74
I do have the rules handy. Here's a sample from the CA18 mission "Narrow the Search": DEPLOYMENT The players roll off and the winner determines which of the standard deployment maps is used in the battle (see the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook) and picks one of the deployment zones for their army. Their opponent uses the other deployment zone. The player who did not pick their deployment zone then deploys their entire army first. Their opponent then deploys their entire army. A player’s models must be set up wholly within their deployment zone. FIRST TURN The player who finished setting up their army first chooses who takes the first turn. If they decide to take the first turn, their opponent can roll a dice: on a 6, they seize the initiative, and they get the first turn instead Does the first turn not begin where it says FIRST TURN? duz_
This question has come up several times previously especially when Strike from the Shadows was in its original form. FAQ stated it happened after sieze. If any further discussion is required it can goto the OR.
