Vindicator vs Predator

I'm looking at adding some form of AT/Heavy Firepower for my Warbringers.

I already have a unit of Lascannon Devastators but thinking of adding either 2 Predators (350pts) or 3 Vindicators (375pts)

The Preds have a better rate of fire guaranteeing 4 shots per vehicle and longer range but the Vindis are +1S with their weapon and +1T over the Preds.

Any views would be appreciated.

Personally I have never been a fan of the Vindicators, I find them too hard to get into range, and then once they do, doing litttle damage.

A Predator on the other hand has options of load out and can be fireing turn one from its deployment.

The biggest factor i can give for a Vindicator is that it can make a good distraction carnifex, If you race it towards your opponent at full speed they will have no choice but to deal with it.

There’s a lot of discussion about what the best anti-tank options are for Fists in the “We’re going to get a book” thread. I suggest you check it out.

To be honest, neither Predators or Vindicators look like especially good options. To make the most of the Fists’ super-doctrine, weapons with a higher rate of fire probably make more sense. These weapons also have enough shots to mow down hordes, which lascannons and demolishers aren’t very good at.

If you're set on predators and vindicators then they aren't dreadful, but I think there are better options out there.

well ... pred treat range is almost double than Vindicator .

I would say the discussion in the other post is focused on more high level play to maximize cost. However if you really want to use predators, they will still make a great option. A lascannon turret with Heavy Bolter sides will compliment the fists very well. And if you just want to play and have fun they will do what you need them to do.

@ Rodrick - Autocannon plus Las sponson or the 4 Las version? Does the extra firepower of the Autocannon make it better as a dual threat INF and Venicles or does the 4 Las version work better for pure AT?

I'm used to playing GKs so we just hit them with hammers to break a tank.

Autocannon + las + las

The aurocannons are much deadlier. The bonus shots, and the ability to cause significantly more damage (even though the worse ap means more saves) really put the auto cannon above the laz.

What do you mean by bonus shots? Just the fact it's 2d3 rather than a straight 2 for the Las? I can't see anywhere else that the Autocannon gives bonus shots.

Which to take, Predator or vindicator? Answer: Invictor! blegh...

Hate how good that ugly brute is, but such is usually the case with shiny new models!

I’m taking a Vindicator for the T8, running it up next to a Repulsor to try and give opponents toughish choices on which to shoot. I’m also making a Laser array thingy so I can magnetise the Demolisher cannon and use it as a Demios pattern instead, for when I actually want to shoot something in a game!

Repulsor have fly keyword can't be tarpited, vindicator can.

Actually with my IF i use invictor and suppressors as ranged support .

With IH y have 2 autocannon Las preds.
