The question is what chapter acts best as an ally with guard since the Combat Doctrines are lost. All of their doctrines are circumstantial, but their stratagems, warlord traits, relics and psychic powers provide the core of their game play. SkimaskMohawk Posted October 25, 2019 Share Posted October 25, 2019 Well I use those names, but in reality, the chapter doesn't matter. You can do a successor and still retain almost all of the benefits and tweak the tactics to compliment the allied force more. The only issue with infantry vs mech is that most of the stratagems don't really leverage ranks that well. Iron hands, salamanders and raven guard do have reliable bonuses to their tanks via chapter tactics. Raven guard get a better save, iron hands have a whole bunch of defensive benefits, salamanders ignore -1 and get to reroll a hit and wound per unit.
