Mainely Wargamming
Hello, I am trying to find a good place to buy a 4x6 battle mat for a 40k table I'm building for a friend. My store sold their last one, and I am hesitant to buy one off line after reviews I am reading. One review of a rather prominent player said to never buy mats from FLG, because "they can't be guaranteed to be exact right angles, and measured to an inch". There also seems to be some kerfuffle over FLG/Reece being somewhat, bad with customers concerns. Can anyone point me in the right direction for purchasing rolled mats for under 100? Thank you Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359441-battle-mats/ Share on other sites
Fajita Fan
I have a couple of these: http://www.tablewar.com/fatmat/6x4/ And they’re really nice, you just have to air them out first because the mousepad has an odor. I’m also pretty sure I have a FLG 4x4 mat for Titanicus and it’s nice too, I didn’t notice anything wrong with the angles. You can also get FLG mats from Amazon, if you have a problem just send it back. Hehe, I clicked around on the your linked website to buy a mat myself, when I picked a 75 USD mat and filled in my address to Sweden the website calculated a shipping cost of 215 USD! Hilarious! Vykes
Aye Imren, I'm only just one country 'up' from them and last time they had a shipping charge of about 100 USD, too. I do like the FLG standard mats*, not a big fan of the FAT mats at all as they always looked more cartoony with that old Close Combat PC game vibe. That said, usually stores can get in touch with FLG and make their orders par normal. At least 4 of my local-ish shops would and eventually I had them come through. Their restocks can take a little bit up here in Canada. *I own 3: Mars, Mars Base, and Titanicus 2. got all of 'em for under 100 Cnd and love 'em all. Friend has the FAT Urban Conflict mat and it's... okay. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359441-battle-mats/#findComment-5416906 Share on other sites
Imren
I guess I should scout out the European webshops and my FLGS, because the shipping costs seem over the top, Not even FW would come up with such shipping pricing and they deliver with courier to your door. I was on mobile so I couldn't see where you are, there are European companies who do nice mats, the first place I looked at wanted an arm and a leg to ship from Europe and wanted to charge me something called VAT (which in America is another name for a tank of liquid). WarriorFish
Deep-Cut are good, we have this one and it's a regular on the table top - particularly nice for my Chaotic armies and their urban bases They ship outside the EU but I'm not sure how much that will cost specifically but it's within roughly 7 days.
