Land Raider assembly

Recommended Posts

Seems like every time I buy one of these things putting it together where it actually looks good is hell. I picked up a Crusader/Redeemer on ebay it was sealed, but putting it together sucked. It will do it's job on the table top when I get it painted for gaming. But was curious if anyone else has come across problems with this type of model. I picked up the Forge World Inquisitor doors and they didn't want to fit with the pack either. Ended up just having to glue the opening and closing doors shut unfortunately.

The stock Land Raider model is one of GWs first large injection molded kits. It's very old, and yes, it has many issues with how it fits together. There are spots that are better left with a gap and/or use styrene strips to fill them in. If you try to force the parts to close the gaps, how it seems like they should, it will distort the shape of the model. Yeah, the Land Raider model could really use an update.

I built one back in the early 2000's when I first got into the hobby and remember it being a pain, the door mechanism broke so I had the door latched with tape lol. Then fast forward nearly 20 years I bought this one for my new army all excited to build a tank, man it was a nightmare lol. I stumbled upon the Terminus Ultra on the GW website but they no longer sell it online. I really want to make one, literally every bits shop online is out of most of the guns so I think my best bet is to find some on ebay. Probably better trying to make my own from different pieces I find on ebay cause the full built ones selling on there are well over 100$.

I built the first one with the door mechanism so you could see the interior. Dressed it up with nuts and spent a lot of the me painting the computer screens. When it was assembled, I found out you couldn't see anything unless shining a light into it. Glued the assault ramp shut on every one since.
