Any ideas for Chaosing-up some Mk3?

To my eternal shame as a Fists player, I've recently been thinking of how I'd do 40k-era Iron Warriors. But I'm not sure anyone in my area plays them and building a few seems like it might get the itch to get some really good narrative game against them out.

The basic Chaos Marine kits don't really get the industrial brutality feel I'd like across, but the Mk3 and Cataphractii kits are too clean and Great Crusade-ish. I'm working on a test piece with some bionics (I think cutting up an arm and putting in some pieces of plastic rod doesn't seem too complicated) and some spare bits, but I'm not sure that alone is going to get me where I want to be. So I'm looking for more ideas. I haven't used greenstuff and other putties much, but getting some practice with that seems like it wouldn't be a bad idea.

forgeworld's iron hands mkiii seems like it would be the perfect fit for you. the medsuan immortal kit is also pretty nice for some gritty, over-industrialised marines.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I'd practically forgotten those exist. Mixing parts in from their Mk3 kit definitely seems like a good idea, and the Iron Father looks like a good start for a Warsmith. Especially with a few extra plates riveted on for a salvaged/upgraded look.
