HallofStovokor
I was bumming around reddit and saw someone with a paint scheme similar to IF on his Guardsmen. It seemed very much like something Guardsmen from Terra would be wearing as The Imperial Fists defend Terra. I thought about and wondered why there isn't a regimental option from Holy Terra. They could be very different from the other guard regiments. They could get regimental buffs to make all AP0 weapons -1AP, a 6++ invulnerable save army wide and a 4+ armor save. They'd lose abhumans with the exception of psykers, because Terra is meant for the purest of humanity. What do you guys think? Would this not be a cool addition to the Guard codex? ImperialTuba
I tend to look at the Cadian models and think of them as standard issue or default for Guard, so I guess I just imagined the regiments on Terra would have similar looks to them. But I like the idea of Terra's Guardsmen emulating the Space Marines they share the planet with, at least in theory. In reality, bright yellow flak armor might not be the most appealing to me. Fair enough, but shouldn't Terra have a regiment that isn't 30k? ImperialTuba
Fair enough, but shouldn't Terra have a regiment that isn't 30k? Difficult for someone like me to answer since I still consider myself a rookie on the lore and logic of the universe. If stagnation is a defining characteristic of the Imperium, then I don't see why the Guard on Terra would be drastically changed from 30k to 40k. Morovir
I would imagine that the Guardsmen that have the honour of being stationed on Terra would have traditions stretching back to the Great Crusade e.g. the members of the Old One Hundred, and thus would not be styled on the Imperial Fists by virtue of being older than them, as the Imperial Fists only became properly stationed on Terra after the Heresy. Slave to Darkness
Not going to need rules for Terran guard unless Terra or the Sol system gets attacked, and GW wont let that happen. Shame though, Id love to see what Terra could scrape together to defend itself (as long as its not Primaris). True, but they could be elements of the Imperial Army that were assisting Dorn's boys on the Imperial Fists on the Great Crusade. They could also be an imperial guard equivalent of the Deathwatch. The best Guardsmen from every regiment get selected to defend the throne world. You make a good point about the armor color. With the exception of Mordian Iron Guard and Vostroyans, imperial guardsmen tend to have practical equipment for their specialty. Yellow armor wouldn't be very practical. Marshal Argos
It's been a while but werent the Lucifer Blacks also a terran Regiment? I know they were involved in guarding the Imperial Palace for a after the Heresy. They were, I think they disbanded because losses then became officers and precursors to 40k Commissars I think. Forget scions, the Terran units should be the FW Imperial Army as one of the surviving old 100 regiments. Exilyth
One could argue that with all the gold and sandstone and marmors around the p(a)lace, a gold-yellow-tan-white camo scheme may be beneficial at least on the surface of Terra. On the subterranian levels though, a more muted color scheme would be more usefull. Mhh - maybe a uniform stone color with a bit of edge highlighting and a certain roughness to it so troopers can stand still in alcoves and be mistaken for statues until the enemies are in bayonet range. The high lords probably each have their own honour guard. With all the important people and places, there's probably a regiment for each. I could easily see the aristocracy founding, training, outfitting and tithing their personal regiments just to one-up one another: "My 32nd and 33rd corsairs were destroyed in an exterminatus on Helmont VIII, but I've already shipped the 34th, 35th, and 36th offworld and the 7th is in training. And how is your tithe going?" Given the importance of the place and the close proximity of mars, regiments from terra probably get better equipment than most other places (at least as long as they're on the planet).
