Forge World Transfers Too Expensive?

Honestly?  No.

They're one of the few thing that I think are a rock solid upgrade product that usually comes with a lot of neat little extra bits and pieces that add a lot of flair: it's a whole army's worth of heraldry on a sheet.  They're big, crisp, excellent quality, go on cleaner and easier than basically any other transfer I've used.  I'm only ever irritated that while I don't mind them costing me $40 cnd, I hate that I have to make an order to go up to $150 in order to avoid the $27 shipping charge.

I wish they brought out more of the 'then and gone' FW transfer sheets instead of having molded pauldrons and doors and all that stuff.  Talk about expensive and I just casually glance at the upgrade sprues.

They are pricey, but a lot of the designs are very good and crisp. The reason they cost so much is they are extremely expensive to produce because they don't print them in massive runs and not enough people buy them for them to order larger batches. This is the reason why many are discontinued. The Carcharodons transfers only lasted two production runs, and the second run only came back due to constant nagging and popular demand, but was too expensive to continue stocking.

This, basically.

Forge World's Transfer Sheets are pricey, but compared to EVERYTHING ELSE Games Workshop and Forge World offer... The quality is immensely superior.

Personally, I like the raised shoulder pads (I will argue that with you Vykes. I will agree that they're expensive though) more than transfers. But I got the Night Lords transfers for my vehicles, not the infantry models.

The Ultramarines one looks pretty good, Black Blow Fly, I know one of my mates at the local club got it and really sharpened up his company real nice with the trim and banner in particular (still jealous that they have that trim and those Raptor Imperialis marks).

Aye Tybos, they did have some interesting runs, too.  Apparently they made a Luna Wolf sheet for a production run but I honestly don't seem to recall it.  Would have been a whole lot nicer than having to spend about three times that on shapeways prints to get something that's not nearly as good on uneven surfaces.  Still too bad that they don't have production runs that are essentially backordered say, once a quarter or even annually so we could get some of the more obviously missing ones back (like Emperors Children).

Hmm, Oh I think the upgrade sprues and sets definitely have their place, Gederas, mate. The cool stuff for the raised pauldrons are the 'third jersey' style pauldrons: atypical and unique unit marks and things like unique armour pieces rather than just raised.  But even then, I still love the raised eye of horus on my breachers because I could gem inside the eye with red on a black field, making it stand out from my other units.  Very cool, but way more costly on a macro scale. I'm just irritated that there's some really awesome sheets that up and left with no good replacements.

I've bought one sheet for my World Eaters and was very happy with it.

It was enough for a whole 3000+ points army, and added a lot of awesome character and details.

Forgeworld (and GW in general)'s pricing may be debatable, but the transfers are totally worth it in my book.

They are great transfers but the price did recently increase from £16 to £20. That’s quite a hefty increase that I’m not sure can be put down to increased costs.

It’ll be Dark Angels I feel sorry for as I think I’m right in saying that every other Legion (might be wrong) at least had a window to buy them at £16 whereas they’ll have to pay £20.
