I tend to stay that the Primer Inn that the castle marinea, it been about twenty year now that this has been the main hotel I've use.  It around a 10-15 minitue walk (see goggle map) to Warhammer World.  It can be a bit pricey depend when it book & time of year eg: holidays.  There a pizzahut across the road, Burger king just across the bridge & a McDonald just a moment walk.

The other place I would also suggest are

Ibis - The hotel just a few moment walk from the train stastion.  But to get to Warhammer World, I think it ether a 45min walk or you can get the tram or taxi.  Cineworld is also just a few moment away as well.  I think this is the cheapest option?  This would be my back up hotel if the Primer Inn happen to ever be booked out.

Gateway hotel - This has change name.  I would only suggest this hotel if your travel by car, as it is a little bit out.

There are a lot more, just these are the three I've had good experience with when I've been down to Nottingham.

I've spent a few nights at the Travelodge Nottingham Riverside - it's probably walking distance, but I've always had a car, and there's a restaurant / bar next door. It's not the best of hotels, but after a day of gaming it has everything you need. It can be a little noisy as it's by an industrial estate and HGV's can come and go during the night.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I have a related question. My wife an I are going up to see Michael Buble in December and I've managed to tag along a warhammer world visit (lucky me, I've never been!) - we are staying at the premier inn marina - what is parking at warhammer world are we better to walk from the hotel? Thanks in advance.

There is parking that Warhammer World.  But I don't drive & not sure what it like for leaving your car there during the night?  It might be best to send a email to the Warhammer World store or maybe send them a message over on facebook.  Your ok for the hotel, there more parking space where the Beefeater is, which is right next door to the Primer Inn.

But it a 10-15min walk from the Primer Inn hotel to Warhammer World.  I tend to walk by the bridge instead of the canal.  So I tend to take the Alderney Street which take you to the round about & then up hill, it hopeful in blue on the google map link in my original post just above.

Depends how much you want to spend and how bothered you are about quality, and travelling to Warhammer World. As has been suggested the premier inn at Castle Marina is fine and half a mile walk, there’s also a Holiday Inn a little closer, and even easier walk (and a travel lodge).

If you want somewhere a little nicer, there’s plenty of hotels in the centre and along Maid Marian Way - that’s about 1.5 miles away and will be about £7/8 in a taxi. I don’t think the tram will get you that close to be honest, but can’t say I use it regularly.

Booking in advance and notwithstanding any special occasions you should be able to get the travel lodge/holiday inn for £65/£70 a night in Notts.

Re: the other post asking about parking - parking is fine and there always tend to be spaces at Warhammer World. It used to be locked up overnight, so not sure what the position would be leaving your car.

I normally stay in the Travelodge on maid Marion way, I usually get to Nottingham around lunch time the day before and have a wonder around town and a few drinks. There are some nice pubs near that hotel. A lot of good places to eat as well.

It's a short tram ride to Warhammer World, the tram stop is about 5 mins from the entrance.

Having said that, if the weather is good and you have time it's a really nice walk along the canal from the city centre to Warhammer World. That takes about 40 to 45 min.

Doing that walk on the way back to the train station can help burn off the calories from bugmans :)

+1 for this. I get the train to Nottingham and walk down the canal from there, and it's pretty pleasant. So if you don't mind the walk (and the weather is agreeable), the city centre might give you more hotel options.
