Black Knight
I will be getting one of our new toys soon and I have a joint Mars/Stygies army and not sure what to paint them as. Has anyone got some pics of their painted tank/transport so I have some lovely ideas to go with. Black Knight
Thanks Prot, anyone got a Stygies schemed one to compare? I still do not have the balls to airbrush the lights like that... How was that red done? Also what colour are you using for the damage ontop of the red? Prot
Thanks. It's a bunch of stuff. The weathering is from AK interactive. It's powders mostly. The reds are just air brushed in layers. They're all from Vallejo.. .basically a 'khorne' type red, building up to something lighter. Magos Takatus
Here's some I worked on for this year's ETL. Not airbrushed in as eyecatching way as Prot's amazing efforts, but I did try out using masking and some basic highlights using an airbrush. I didn't want to risk airbrush-based OSL effects since I'm still fairly inexperienced with getting the dilution and pressure correct when airbrushing. Despite my best intentions I still use it a bit like a flamethrower. :p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359686-has-anyone-got-some-pics-of-our-new-tanktransport/#findComment-5420791 Share on other sites
Black Knight
Same here Takatus, I think I may have to upgrade my airbrush to get that kind of control. I really like the green you've used there, are those custom decals? Magos Takatus
Haha! I think I need to upgrade my fingers more than my airbrush. Thanks regarding the green, it's Caliban Green and Warpstone Glow with the odd highlight of Moot Green. It came out a bit brighter than my Onagers and infantry, which isn't a bad thing really. They are custom Decals. I got them from Fallout Hobbies. They did offer good service that time. I've since had issues with them. I might give skumb4g customs a go from now on. Credit where it was due he printed my Forge World insignia in several different sizes. That large flat door was perfect for the biggest size. :) As for the numbers, I think they are just generic U.S. navy numbers, I liked how solid and chunky they were. Sure, fine printed numbers and letters suit the ornate decoration of Skitarii vehicles, but I wanted a bold font instead. Prot
As soon as I finish my Custodes Project I will be finishing a second one of these. Probably 3 with indirect is ideal, but I think they're getting largely ignored as an army in part because Marines are just so much more valid right now.
