What to play in 40K? BTW this might be a bit Long -- Sorry

Well I going to start/move this tread here, but it started here http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359709-coming-back/?do=findComment&comment=5421215 But a little more about me and my situation with/about 40K

 

I am a long time 40K player RT Days, who left the game for various reasons from financial reasons, lack of players to Family Health Reasons. I had quit for a while (around 4th Ed), started, sold various armies but mainly played CSMs.

 

But the last army I bought was a bunch of Blood Angels (Never played them), I did this around 2016 BUT stuff got in the way again so I sold them to a interested player at my place of work.

 

Well he has started a 40K Group, and they of been after this old man to join them (they are in their 20s-30s and I am almost 60 LOL), and my excuse has been "no army", but I thought about doing some trading (My Copy of Rouge Trader for a Army) with them. But one of them has instead I was offered the following for free.

 

Some Dark Angels from Dark Vengeance

Some Tactical Marines from Assault on Black Reach

Two Captains - One DA, One SM

One Librarian

Five Terminators

Two Ravenwing Bikes

 

And I have gotten copies of the Current Rule Book, SM Codex, DA Codex.

 

SO finally the question: Dark Angels or Space Marines? Which would you go with and why?

 

I have never played, Dark Angels but I do have some minor experience with Space Marines. And I have not played since around 4th Ed, so it has been a while, but I have been following the fluff.

It really depends on the type of player you are. Honestly I would paint up some of the models in colors you like. See if you enjoy the hobby side of things first. Then give test out the gaming side of it and see if you enjoy that. If you enjoy both then you're good to go and can start looking for a army you really like.
