Kona
I got to role dice for the first time in years last weekend, it was amazing fun. I joined a kill team group. They are in between campaigns, so I got till the new year to build my team. I need plasma and maybe melta for my teams. I was wondering how many Cadian command squads would be useful to have for a 2000 point army on average? I’d like to by command squads if I’m going to use them for 40k for the plasma/melta models before I buy the two model pack. I’ve been building my normal squad boxes by building all special weapons, voxes, etc and filling in the rest with the five man boxes. What can I do to get the most out of a command squad box, can I get two squads from one box? I don’t need the flamer, grenade launcher, and voxes since I get those from the normal boxes. Should I use the normal squad boxes to get legs and bodies? Thanks for the help. Kevlarshark
You can only have 1 command squad per HQ choice...you will probably find it tricky to get more than 3 in 2k games. There isn't quite enough legs/bodies to get 2 command squads from one box. There is one of each special weapon. Head and arms to build a medic and the a few sword and pistol arms for building a commander. Plus loads of detail bits like pouches. Shamansky
1 command squad box is just enough to build an officer and 4 vets, because there is only 5 legs pieces in the box. As it was already mentioned the box contans only one special weapon of each kind. Non-primaris space marine weapons do just fine for cadian scale. Use grenade launcher arms for easy way and flamer arms if you feel comfortable with a sharp knife in your hand. I'd recomend to get Cadian Shock Troops box as soon as it gives you 2 grenade launcher and 2 flamer sets of arms but also gives you more bodies to place those weapons on. Exilyth
Rule of three means you will only ever need 3 of each special character (e.g. company/platoon commander), but the command squad kit is one of the few sources guard have for meltaguns and plasmaguns. The command squad kit is also really useful for creating & converting all kinds of characters and for giving infantry squads more personality. Mixing two command squad kits and one infantry squad kit (the ten man multipart kit) would give you a huge load of bits to customize your kill team. The resulting 5+5+10 = 20 models could field a variety of special weapons, or be officier, vox, medic or whatever you make them - e.g. I used the hand-holding-map, officier torso, vox backpack and some other bits to create a master of ordinance.
