ZaelART
Hi, as the title suggests, I will be aiming to start a new sisters army soon. I've always been drawn to the Inquisition and the Echlesiarchy as they're just so characterful. Unfortunately I didn't have the cash to commit to building my dream Ordo Hereticus Purgation Force 20 years ago, but damn it I'm an adult now and I want toy soldiers. Now, I seem to have missed the boat on last chance to buy, but have managed to pick up a few metal sisters with flamers and meltaguns online. Anything else that I should be aiming for? ThePenitentOne
I would urge caution- there has been some scale creep- I tried to deny it, but I think it might be a factor on how good old models look side by side with the new. Tanks, however, have the same rhino base, though the upper part of new tanks is bigger. I've also seen a bunch of folks say they didn't like the look of the new penitent engines, so once the box comes out, people might be looking to unload the PE. Remember as well that Inquisition models are coming; they may just be re-releases- I think there would be way more hype if they were new sculpts. The new inquisition rules are in this months White Dwarf. ZaelART
Ah do you reckon? There are some old minis I really like (special weapons with gas masks) that I think still look really good, maybe I can sort the scale by raising the bases. Hopefully they won't look terrible! Thanks for the tips. Thanks for the tips. You can make them the same height but they'll still be noticeably different proportions. The only model I would HIGHLY recommend picking up is the old Canoness. It's probably the best model in the line and looks better than the current one(subjectively of course). Ficinus
I also like the old Mistress as conversion fodder for a canoness Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359798-what-to-look-out-for-on-ebay-to-supplement-new-army-box/#findComment-5423935 Share on other sites
Servant of Dante
I think it might be good to wait a bit after the release to see if the old sisters model prices go down after a while or do in fact get/stay more expensive on second hand markets. Personally I plan on keeping my army mostly metal and if second hand stuff gets cheaper/easier to find second hand I’ll just go with that Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359798-what-to-look-out-for-on-ebay-to-supplement-new-army-box/#findComment-5423953 Share on other sites
Bukimimaru
Any Sororitas Rhinos you spot on ebay are still worth picking up as they will be more or less the same. Obviously theres the 2 plastic characters they have released as well as the Celestine / Gemeni sets. If you can get your hands on a Forgeworld Repressor or two, those kits are unlikely to change. Thats basically a checklist of everything I'm working on before the new set drops. Aothaine
It really comes down to personal preference imho. But if you're looking at ebay and the new line, if you can even find anything on ebay for the new line, grab the special weapons asap. I know I'll be fishing for the storm bolter sister for sure. foxlight713
The mirical dice sound interesting but I feel that it is a nerfed version of what ever version T. gets in AoS. Like at most you may have 2-4 dice generated by turn 2 for sisters. It's probably the best model in the line and looks better than the current one(subjectively of course). You might hold off on that older canoness. Yes the older one is better than the one coming in the box set. But the customizable one they showed off on the WHC page this week has a lot more options. The mirical dice sound interesting but I feel that it is a nerfed version of what ever version T. gets in AoS. Like at most you may have 2-4 dice generated by turn 2 for sisters. I haven't faced the DoT AoS army so I'm only going off internet reviews. The difference right now that I'm seeing is that DoT start with a pool of dice that they spend during the game. And while they can earn more during the game the consensus was that it is not generally worth it to try to gain more dice. Sisters on the other had seem to not start with that pool but the gain mechanic seems a lot easier. You gain 1 every turn automatically, with certain WT increasing that. You gain more when certain events happen, with several methods that increase that number. With DoT it seems that the rule is more powerful early game, whereas sisters seems like it will be more powerful late game if you save the MD. Brexan
Anyone manage to get a copy of the box set? Seems it done out online within 15 minutes! Looks like the wait continues for the individual boxes to be released. Or £250+ on eBay. Slasher956
Was going to put - is it to early to say ...look for a box? @brexan - a number of people pre-pre ordered with their lgs/ asked their warhammer store to hold one for them However the number of people who think they have one via lgs might very well outstrip the numbers who actually get one! brother_b
I ordered my set at 1001, the moment the box went up for sale and the website changed from Necromunda to the Sisters presage. Max of one box per order. I’ve seen eBay sellers that have already pre sold like 50 or 60 copies, so not sure how they doing that unless they’re a brick and mortar store with an eBay presence.
