Looking at sprue pictures of the kit, I noticed that the Marauder Destroyer kit does not contain any wing ordnance.

Which is a real shame at the price GW is asking, but that's not what I want to discuss.

I was contemplating using ordnance from a 'normal' aircraft model kit, but I'm not sure what scale and kind of missiles/bombs would be a good fit (I'm more of a tank/vehicle modelling person outside of 40k and don't know much about aircraft kits).

So, does anyone know of a good source for wing ordnance bits?

edit:

The manticore missiles from the ground objectives kit would work, just like the shootas from the flak turrets could be used as custom shootas, but then I'd have turrets without weapons, which would be highly suboptimal.

I'm not sure what specific kits would work particularly, but unless you could find a cheap source of 3rd party models you might be better off just buying a pack of Thunderbolts as they come with a surplus of wing ordnance. I would be wary of anything resin or 3D printed as it might be very fragile at this scale.

1/72 is pretty common aircraft scale but far too big, 1/100 or 1/144 is a better match, but there are less fighter type aircraft available. I've seen people say the new epic scale is roughly 1/200 scale.

It's annoying the Destroyers don't come with anything, but if you get the other Imperial aircraft packs you usually have more than you can use. If you want your 8 Hellstrikes then you do have to ration them a bit admittedly. I think it's just sprue limitations rather than anything nefarious, The Eavy Boma has two full size sprues and is more expensive.

What reason do you want the ordnance, a particular rule of cool build, or for gameplay reasons?

I don't think WYSIWYG is that important for wing ordnance, it's not mandatory for the first GW event (Each model must completely and accurately represent its entry on your army roster, ignoring additional weaponry and upgrades.) and generally the community opinion appears to be rule of cool wins.

Numbered aircraft are more useful than the right missiles IMO anyway, as it just gets confusing when you shoot them off.

I think the Imperial weapon kit allocation is as follows:

Thunderbolt Kit:
2 pairs of Skystrike per aircraft (16 single per box)
2 pairs of Hellstrike per aircraft (16 single per box)

2 pairs of small double bomb mounts (a bit confusing!) (16 single per box)

Enough to give each aircraft a full allocation of anything you want with plenty spare.

Marauder Bomber:
2 pairs of large bombs per aircraft (8 per box)

2 pairs of Hellstrike per aircraft (8 per box)

So enough to give one aircraft a full load of bombs and one a full load of Hellstrike missiles, or a mixed allocation on both aircraft.

Marauder Destroyer:
No weapons included.

Unfortunately the ordnance is on the 'B' sprue which comes with the Marauder, and is replaced by a 'D' sprue with the Destroyer. Presumably the extra bits for the larger tail takes up too much space for weapons.

If you don't fit any Helstrikes to your fighters you have enough to fully fill out two Marauder destroyers.

If/when I get a Marauder Destroyers, I'd like to outfit them with wing ordnance.

Doesn't have to be WYSIWYG, but having the most commonly used loadout on the model would be nice.

Going "oh and that bird without wing ordnance on is going to fire all the missiles at you" would be weird imho.

That's good to know, even though I'm not planning on adding more Thunderbolts (at least for now - I'm still hoping for lighning, valkyrie/vendetta and/or vulture kits).
