Delta.Skies
kindof fixated on hover tanks for my rogue trader army. Of course astra militarum stats would be used and thus leman russes come to mind. Has anybody tried to create such a concept. Any ideas to steer me in a direction? Bryan Blaire
If you want them to look Imperial tech-like, then you'll want to take some inspiration (or actually use the bits) from something like the Land Speeders, Storm Wolf, and Repulsors. The grav plating on them would be the most likely way that a hover-Russ would be made. Harrowmaster
I'm considering this for a 30k dark age militia force. From what I've gathered the repulsor could work but it is slightly larger than a russ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359962-hovering-leman-russes/#findComment-5428818 Share on other sites
Nostromo
I would not bother with 40k design limitations. If fluff plays a role, i would also avoid borrowing from current "innovations" like the repulsor. But if fluff and GW-design just play a secondary role, it is quite easy to find hovertank designs on the net. Or tank designs that are easy to modify. Like this here - the quad tracks can just as well modified to represent anti-grav pods And as you can see, it can easily be 40k 30k-ified: However, this one is way too large for a Leman Russ (it represents a Macharius). In the end, it just depends on hoe much scratch-buidling you are willing to do. The, there is of course this one: https://spikeybits.com/2019/03/dreamforge-games-launches-grav-tank-kickstarter.html Not Leman Russ, but 30kish enough Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359962-hovering-leman-russes/#findComment-5429012 Share on other sites
Ldorte
What about using some bits/basing it off of the hover tanks the admech recently got? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/359962-hovering-leman-russes/#findComment-5429052 Share on other sites
Plasmablasts
I remember a White Dwarf of yore which featured a Catachan Air Cavalry force, with all the tanks converted as hover vehicles using Land Speeder parts. walter h
I think,Ldorte is on the right track. I don't know how it would fit together, but looks like a great choice. I think,Ldorte is on the right track. I don't know how it would fit together, but looks like a great choice. The easiest way would be to do a Skorpius Disintegrator turret swap. Modify it to take a Russ turret on top, and maybe change the sponsons and add extra armour plating etc. If you don't already have the Russ kit I would try buying the bits you need separately rather than getting a Russ and a Skorpius. If you won't do it I certainly want to try when I clear the project backlog!
