So BA are getting Death Company intecessor rules but no new specific models for them.  So is this a precedent or are they just giving rules in advance of the models?  With the way Primaris are going I think they are doing away with a lot of the flavour and this kind of makes me feel like they are going in that direction.  I've already stopped collecting my Space Wolves as I don't like how Primaris are going, they are so far removed from SM's, I still have my army and I am hoping that things will change but, it doesn't seem it will.  I just hate the lack of options and the bland style etc.  I hope I'm wrong and I hope they make a badass CC unit that might make me love them.

I would imagine it's in advance of models. GW's a modelling company first and foremost, so I find it really hard to believe that when the next round of Codexes get brought out, we won't see Veteran Intercessors/Death Company, etc. Remember that most of the previous wave of codices were to get everyone properly up-to-date in 8th Edition, rather than the usual releases.

GW did outright say that they weren't planning on creating Primaris chapter-specific units. I suspect in the short to mid-term we'll see more and more situations like this (where you can upgrade a unit with a stratagem) while they fill out the Primaris range, but I'm also confident that eventually they'll come back around and do Primaris Death Company models, etc.

Then dont collect Primaris, collect actual Space Wolves. You dont have to put that (imho) crap in your army. I run Wolves and Templars and not a single Primaris to be seen. Its glorious.

They are a model company but if you look at tau for example, troops wise they are all uniform and the same.  I think GW are making Primaris more uniform not in the same way but, the lack of options etc. seems like it.  I may be wrong as they are still a new army.

No they never said it, I'm just hoping that they don't.

They are getting rid of normal marines so I'm not going to waste my money.

Why would they release a Death Company Primaris Intercessors unit when they have a Death Company kits that contains pauldrons, helms, power packs, and you can clip off small things like the blood drop gems, vials, and even weapons, and get you for $60 + $35/70? Everything you need to make Death Company Primaris is already sold - and if you have other Marine kits, you could even use the parts you can’t use on the Primaris (jump packs, legs, torsos, arms) to make some additional Marines.

Honestly not sure why we didn’t see some of these things happen before with more weapon options included.

Well GW haven't done this before to my knowledge, I think its good if they are planning to actually make a DC unit in the future, that way you get the rules and you can at least make your own models until then.  But whether they do that or not is up in the air.

Do you mean "uniform" as in "they all have the same gear"? If so, that's entirely the point of Primaris, and done so that Firstborn units still have a use. Primaris get better stats but less versatility, Firstborn are physically weaker but get a wider choice in gear.

Yes they did, in a VoxCast.

then why did you ask?

I didn't ask anything. Read my post again.

The way this thread is going, to say it's on thin ice would be an understatement. So, less bickering and unnecessary condescension, and try to be constructive in your posts from here on, please.

My only question is why they didn't make it rievers or infiltrators instead of intercessors. It would definitely have been more fitting that way.

I don't mind though- After all, death company started out all those years ago as just tacticals that you painted black. You used to put them in rhinos!

I do think it’s a missed opportunity not to do chapter specific Primaris units. It stands out most with Space Wolves as they don’t even use the same naming conventions as other chapters.

It’s weird to see a line up that says ‘Here’s our Blood Claws, here’s our Grey Hunters, our longfangs our thunderwolves and these are our intercessors.’ Talk about spot the odd one out.

I think you’d see a lot of the resistance to Primaris disappear if GW made more of an effort to incorporate them into existing chapters. As it is, it feels like they’re a square peg in a round hole or they aren’t really part of the chapter and are just biding their time until GW eventually squats firstborn.

They did say that, but they also made Ultramarine specific honour guard for Primaris, so that's that.

That being said wait until GW gets around to release veteran units for Primaris. Much of what people are waiting for is a Veteran unit or equivalent for classic Marines.

They will still be in the Legends book and will still be useable, you just wont get any additional rules support for them in the future. So kinda like past editions of 40k. And if people still bought old marines maybe GW will see they still sell and not Squat them. But people say 'whats the point...' and buy Primaris marines anyway instead of voting with their wallet. I hate Primaris, wouldnt even wipe my behind on them. If I ever need any for conversion purposes Ill get them off ebay so GW gets no money for them. Crap looking power armour with even crapper lore reasons for their existence.

I think the death company intersessors is cool, and an easy win for folks who want to paint models black. Death company is just a black paint scheme anyway. Just another way to use existing kits. I'm all for it! I'd like to see more stuff like this.

weirf how they relaly want to push those "tactical amrines" on and on. At somepoint they surely see how every marine army looks the same (yes yes, they mostly do now too)

But there´s hope for real kits, not just upgrades, right?
