Bloodletter bomb still a competitive choice?

It seems like every new rules/supplement makes dakka armies more effective and CC armies less effective. I'm working on building a Word Bearers list with Daemon compliments and I'm trying to see if the bloodletter bomb is still something worth taking a look at?

I think yes, but things like auspex scan make, 12" deep strike denial shenanigans and the likes make it more likely for the bomb to have not as big of an impact as you might wish.

That can probably be mitigated by taking the full unit of 30 though, right? Only one unit may fire and it's infantry only?

The short answer is yes, however it's not going to be as competitive as it would have been maybe 6+ months ago. While screens are kinda going by the wayside shooting and improved overwatch is on the rise. So go for it but you'll have to be extra careful.
