Duke Danse Macabre
Let's be honest, we have all ran one at least once. How we all use them is very different however, some used to like the 3 inquisitors in a supreme command or the 3 units of 1 accoylte and a single inquisitor for a budget vanguard. Now what I want to know is how do you do your Inquisitors? Are they for army lore reasons?... If so please I would love to hear your narrative, what does your Ordo Xenos conversions look like, what do you think makes a good warband? On top of all that tough I would love to hear how you yours? Do you like to use Eisenhorn? If so how does he do for you and do you find his named daemon host useful? In the wake of the new inquisition rules do you think this could be the little buff we needed until our new codex, personally I find it could really help fill some gaps. morsla
This is the current iteration of mine - soon to have a different left arm, a servo skull, and a more slender weapon (planning to kitbash some Delaque weapon parts to try and make a stormbolter)... Ordo Xenos because this is a Deathwatch army, and the others don't feel appropriate. I'm going for a fairly cheap backfield support model: Black shroud for survivability, Hidden Knowledge trait to help generate some of the CPs my Deathwatch need to activate their tactics, and Psyker mostly for the ability to deny enemy powers. He'll live in the middle of the Stalker Boltgun / Heavy Bolter combat squad, parked on an objective. https://www.instagram.com/p/B5G8HqlHiYB/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/360195-inquisitors-in-deathwatch/#findComment-5436757 Share on other sites
Duke Danse Macabre
They are really good for conversion bits. He's certainly looking the part. Can I ask where is that model from? I don't recognise the body. I completely agree on the Ordo Xenos, there is no other option in my mind for my army. Do you think the shroud really helps? I've been on the fence over that one, warlord trait is solid. Sounds like you have a good plan, do you feel mental interrogation is worth it for the potential additional cp generation as a psychic power? Kolgrim DeathHowl
That's a really cool conversion so far! Reading the Eisenhorne and DW books got me into DW and I said if I ever got back into 40k again that's where I would start! Still learning to play, working on my army I got like a good half painted now, just need to finish up painting one unit, then building another one and painting it. Probably be a little while before I really get into gaming but I'm having alot of fun doing what I'm doing so far. I got sidetracked by some Necromunda'ness I bought 1 of every gang the idea was to make a retinue for Eisenhorne. But now I want to try to see what a good gang would be to keep together and then use the rest for conversions. Thinking maybe keeping the Van Saar gang and pushing out the rest to conversions. But I want to get these 8 storm bolter/storm shield marines painted before I start down the conversion rabbit hole lol. Duke Danse Macabre
Forgot about the new crusader model, that's a great choice, love the robe on him but never been a fan of the stain look, your conversion makes much better use of the body. Really wish we will get multi pose crusaders and death cult. :p You managed to start getting any games yet Kolgrim or are you learning through YouTube? It really helps with tricks and tactics you may of overlooked, I find the odd gem and reviews and tacticas are always good. Sounds like a good idea but don't rush, the longer you take the better the result will be. My best friend repainted the same blood letter army in fantasy 4 times because he kept getting better at painting so the new ones make the old look worse by comparison so he had to redo the whole thing every few years. :p My work area is filled with so many half done projects but I keep going back and changing things like weapons and heads as well, I swear I never ends. Mobius0288
Had mine done awhile back based on the index rules, ranger and scion hybrid with a plasma gun and power maul. I think I'm going to use it a command rod since the bio-corrosive relic lets us wound on 2+. I primarily use him for either forward psychic powers and CP farm. I have Eisenhorn built into a couple of lists as well and I plop him down via a drop pod for the 2 psychic powers, as well as psychic pursuit so I can either get a space monkey or acolyte to take shots at a nearby character. Anything outside of Eisenhorn or the CP farm feels like you'd be taking an inquisitor for lore reasons. Competitively, the other ordos pair a little better to the Deathwatch (greyfax w/ psychoculum and no retreat, maleus with aditional psychic powers/denies). Inquistor Rex is pretty godly right now, especially against daemons. I'm definitely on the look out for another inquisitor conversion, I just haven't found the right one for me yet. Absolutely love that these guys can be included in an army and not take up a slot. Kolgrim DeathHowl
Youtube wasn't really a thing back when I first started but these days you can nearly get a run down on how to do anything. So I've been checking out games and rules, I just got back from FL and my luck has it I got super sick so I probably won't be getting any painting done for at least a few days til I feel better. But I am starting to understand the meanings of things better, like dice rolls when I first came back was like this is a foreign language lol. I've got 2 more squads to build would make 3 squads to paint then I think I would have a decent amount to start going up to the shops and starting to learn how to play better. Duke Danse Macabre
Sounds like a good build, the 2+ to wound has been tempting me a well. Still never ran them in drop pods yet, I'm considering it but DW are just so points hungry. I find it a shame they are limited to one now, it's more lore fiendly but I wish we had more gear and build options where you can have more powerful Lord inquisitors, just so the mini beat stick is possible.
