So, I really like the idea of having a dog-like unit running around with my other units. Space Wolves have the Fenrisian Wolves and Chaos has the Flesh Hounds that can run in their own detachment. So, I really like the primaris line but I want to mix in Fenrisian Wolves. I don't wouldn't want to build any first-born into this list though. Think I could make a decent list with Primaris and Fenrisian Wolves? I don't have the codex yet and with the new codices coming out I'm not sure if I should buy it yet or not. Any information would be appreciated!

I say do what you like. I’m building a straight Primaris Wolves force and including Wulfen (conversions) and Fenrisian wolves. So I love the idea. But then again, I hardly ever play, and just like the building/converting/collecting aspect of the hobby.

On a side note, I know a lot of Space Wolves players who do play often and are not a fan of the Fenrisian wolves as they are not the best units on the table. The argument is they die pretty quickly for their points. Any players have comments on the Fenrisian wolves unit?

Yeah I was reading that they do die pretty fast. But There is just something cool about having hound-like units mixed with hunters that really flips my switch lol! I have a Age of Sigmar army full of skeleton horsemen and skeleton dogs. I loved it! It was horrible on the table though lol. Really really bad. But the theme is something that has drawn me for a long time.

Looks like I'll be picking up some Space Wolves in the future then for sure. I might pick up the codex tonight so I can build up a list. In fact, I'll buy it right now.

Yup! 6 pts a model now! Woot! Going to be running three maxed squads with cyberwolves to boost their ld to 6 then +2 more from the squad size so 8. They come out to 105 pts a unit. So 315 pts for 48 models that can run up the board, tie up units, etc. Also, I think they get access to Shock Assault making them 3 attacks each on the charge hitting on 3+. It really is pretty boss. :biggrin.:

So The core of the list right now is this:

[FA] Fenrisian Wolves (15 wolves, 1 cyberwolf) x3

[E] Reivers (5-man) - Combat Knives and Heavy Bolt Pistol x3 (These are in Impulsors with a Primaris Wolf Priest, Primaris Ancient and Primaris Battle Leader)

[HQ] Wolf Lord in Phobos Armour

- Relic: Helm of Durfast

- Warlord Trait: Saga of Majesty

The idea is to grab 3 of the war suits as well to group up with the Wolf Lord and some of the phobos troops, wolves move & advance, the impulsors move up and every unloads and advances if they are out of pistol range. Whole army should be setup for a T2 charge.

Only problem right now is Space Wolf Primaris hit like wet noodles lol! Hoping number of attacks will solve that though. Not sure if it will yet or not. I think Saga of the Hunter could be really cool too. But yeah, Primaris are in a strange spot with Space Wolves. Going to get an awful lot of hits when I'm hitting on 2+ and re-rolling 1s. Wound is going to be the issue I think. Still not really sure what I want to do about it.

Something I'm thinking about is using Cunning of the Wolf to setup 3 units of Bolter Aggressors on the hunt. If I do this I'll have to drop the reivers and warsuits idea I think. Hmmm... I'll have to think about this some more. Having 18 Bolter aggressors show up on turn 2 can be quite nasty. Still have a lot to think about here though. Bleh I'm all over the place lol

The core is the wolves though. I want a "hunt" feel. So it will be some sort of unit in the Impulsors with the characters for sure rushing up the field. Then the Aggressors pop up T2 for a mulching of my opponent. At least that is the idea lol! Maybe not 18 Aggressors, but two units of 3 or one unit of 6 could be cool.

Still have to think about anti-armor as well. Primaris Only Wolves are in a tough spot still. Might have to grab executioners but part of me wants to avoid that if I can.

Sorry for the thought diarrhea. Anyway, back to looking at stuff. :biggrin.:

Edit: The Phobos Wolf Lord with the Helm relic is really good imho. -2 D3 30" character sniper rifle you don't even need to make him the warlord really, but you can have him camp out with the Executioners maybe? Dunno, still thinking about it. Plus there is a new book releasing in 2-3 weeks for Space Wolves. We'll see what happens there. Would be cool if we get a primaris character like the Blood Angels did.

I love the idea of 45 Fen Wolves. I have Two recommendations. First is to take a wolf priest with a jump pack for leadership help. Or an inquisitor for their fearless psyker power. The next is a rune priest to caste defensive powers. It’s a lot of additional points but may increase their effectiveness.

I'm not too worried about the wolves. They are there to really create a buffer, eat chaf, etc. I do have a 2k list written up but it could change a LOT when the PA for Space Wolves releases. Ohhh yeah! I'm building Primaris only. I put the list in the spoiler below.

[HQ] Primarius Rune Priest - 105 (PL 7)

[HS] Repulsor Executioner - 324 (PL 15)
- Fragstorm Grenade Launchers x2, Heavy Onslaught Gatling

Bolter, Twin Incarus Ironhail Heavy Stubber, Auto Launchers

[HS] Repulsor Executioner - 324 (PL 15)

[Transport] Impulsor - 97 (PL 4)

[Transport] Impulsor - 97 (PL 4)
- Storm Bolter x2, Shield Dome

All HQ and Troops go in the Impulsors, the Aggressors go in the executioners. Everything moves up the board. HQ and Troops disembark and fire, Wolves move up and screen/assault if possible, T2: Aggressors disembark and start to unload. If they are still alive on T3 they might be able to double-tap. Doubt this is a strong list but I really like it as it makes use of what I really like. Transports and dogos! :D
